In a statement issued on Sunday, the group extended its warm wishes to Obi, praying for continued good health, wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he continues to advocate for a better Nigeria.

The Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund, Catherine Russell, on Friday commended the Sokoto State Government for its investments in healthcare, education and skills development, describing the initiatives as critical to improving children’s welfare and strengthening human capital. Russell, who spoke during a visit to the Government House in Sokoto, also praised the state’s commitment to ending polio and expanding routine immunisation coverage.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has frozen N9.84bn suspected to be proceeds of illicit drug trafficking and declared four suspected members of a methamphetamine syndicate wanted. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has declared unconstitutional key provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 that restricted political parties to conducting direct primaries or adopting consensus in selecting candidates for elective offices. In a unanimous judgment delivered on Thursday, a three-member panel led by Justice Balkisu Aliyu also invalidated Sections 77(5), 77(6), and 77(7) of the Act, ruling that they amounted to unconstitutional interference in the internal affairs of political parties.
