1 dead, over a dozen taken to hospital after major Highway 401 crash
One person is dead and over a dozen others were taken to hospital after a major crash on Highway 401 over the weekend. Ontario Provincial Police said that at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a collision involving nine vehicles. It happened in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Townline Road in the Cambridge area. Police said a 44-year-old male driver from Kitchener was taken to a trauma centre and was later pronounced dead.
Union, Ford employees in Oakville, reach tenative deal
Unifor has reached a tentative agreement with Ford Motor Company after two weeks of contract talks with the Oakville-based automaker to set a ‘pattern’ for future deals with GM and Stellantis. The three-year deal still has to be ratified by union members and by Ford management; “Securing this tentative agreement comes at a vital time for Canada’s auto workers and our domestic industry,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.
Thieves steal same type of SUV 3 times in one night in Ontario city
Three 2024 Jeep Wranglers were stolen from different homes in Guelph within several hours early Saturday morning, and police are trying to determine if the vehicle thefts are related. One of the SUVs, a pink Wrangler stolen from the driveway of a home in the area of MacAlister Boulevard and Ambrous Crescent, was later found undamaged in Mississauga, Guelph Police said on Monday.

Police are asking members of the public to help locate a fugitive wanted on a Canada-wide warrant who could be hiding out in Ontario. The OPP’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad says Joshua Turner, 42, is serving a more than one-year sentence for breach of a long-term supervision order. Turner is known to frequent the Greater Toronto area, Brampton, the Kitchener Waterloo area and Kingston in Ontario, as well as Winnipeg and Portage La Prairie in Manitoba.
