Local Authors Support “Thanksgiving for Families” at LCCPS
Chanda Ouk Wolf, Author of A Dozen Delicious Donuts. Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) will host a book fair at lala books on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 10am-8pm. The all-day event benefits LCCPS, which will receive 15% of sales for the entire day. The money raised will be used to provide supermarket gift cards and a pre-made dessert to in-need LCCPS’ families, ensuring they have a Thanksgiving meal to enjoy with their families. The event is an annual fundraiser for LCCPS.
There’s a Bear! Where? Over There!
Residents of the Westlands neighborhood of Chelmsford may want to keep an eye out over the next couple of days, after a bear was spotted roaming around on Linwood Street yesterday. The resident who sent us the video was walking her dog when she was alerted to the bear’s presence. The animal followed her home, passing through her front yard before strolling over to a neighbor’s property.

“Simply Me” – Portrait Exhibit Celebrates Childhood
CHELMSFORD — Chelmsford portrait photographer Alison Taylor is turning portraits of local children into a community art experience through “Simply Me,” a black-and-white portrait exhibit hosted at the Chelmsford Public Library. The exhibit features timeless black-and-white portraits of children ages 2–8, created with a simple philosophy: strip away the distractions and capture children exactly as they are at this moment in their lives.
LCCPS Makes Dramatic Progress in Combatting Chronic Absenteeism
LOWELL – New state data released by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) reveals a consistently high average daily attendance of 96% for the past three years, following a post-Covid low of 92.7%, and a concurrent drop in chronic absenteeism at Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS). The average daily attendance rate post-Covid for the state was 92.5%, increasing to just 93.2% for the 2025-2026 school year.

New Name Emerges in District 1
Zuhair Syed, a Community Organizer with the Merrimack Valley Project, is entering the race to replace Danny Rourke as Lowell’s District 1 (Pawtucketville) City Councilor. Syed, a 2018 Lowell High grad, declared his candidacy in a statement sent to InsideLowell Tuesday night. “As a proud Lowell native, I’ve always believed in the potential of our city and the people who call it home,” Syed wrote.
Fall Busker Fest Brings Lowell’s Creativity to the Streets
Lowell – Lowell’s streets are becoming the stage this fall as local musicians and artists take over Derby Park for Fall Busker Fest on Saturday, October 17, 2026. From 2:00 – 6:30PM, Derby Park at 66 Middle Street will come alive with live music from Lowell bands along with live art from Sketchers Lowell.
