Marvel leverages McDonald’s partnership in Loki’s season two
Disney+ exclusive series Loki continues to perform well for the platform. The season two finale attracted more than 11.2 million viewers worldwide, even higher than the first episode’s 3-day draw of 10.9 million viewers. Not only did the show further contribute to the setup for the rest of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but it also provided ample opportunity for big consumer brands to organically promote themselves to viewers across several episodes.
With Activision Blizzard, Xbox gains strong mobile foothold
The long journey for publishing behemoth Activision Blizzard to be acquired by Microsoft for $69 billion finally ended in late October, enabling the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft publisher to be fully integrated into the team of Xbox studios. The deal, first announced in January 2022, faced battle after battle with regulators in numerous countries due to fears around Xbox monopolizing cloud streaming and big annual blockbusters like Call of Duty.

Microsoft promises to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation after Activision Blizzard acquisition

Gamers are embracing NFTs, Interpret data finds
When Ubisoft became the first major games publisher to throw its hat into the NFT (Non-Fungible Token) ring last year, the gaming community’s reaction was mixed. Given the experimental nature of their exploration, the French publisher took the feedback to heart and has said that NFTs represent a “major change that will take time.” More recently, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said that the Final Fantasy publisher is also exploring how to implement NFTs in its games.
The earbuds of the future will be more than fun and games
This August, Knowles Corporation, one of the world’s largest suppliers of audio technology, mapped its vision of the future of audio technologies, including TWS (true wireless stereo). TWS is a technology that sends different signals to two separate (usually) Bluetooth-connected speakers, in perfect synchronization, creating stereophonic sound. TWS is the technology that will likely dominate most multi-speaker implementations in the future.
