GENEVA, Sep 4 – The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) today announced the appointment of Annett Möhner as the next Secretary of the IPCC. Ms Möhner will lead the IPCC Secretariat effective 1 November 2026.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, 8 September 2026 – The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are bringing together experts at a co-sponsored meeting titled ‘Addressing Water Risks and Building Resilience to Climate Change: Evidence, Gaps and Policy Pathways’. The meeting will take place from September 8–10, 2026 at IWMI’s global headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

GENEVA, Aug 13 – The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has opened registration for experts to serve as Expert Reviewers of the Second-Order Draft (SOD) of the 2027 Methodology Report on Inventories for Short-Lived Climate Forcers (SLCF), which will undergo Government and Expert Review.

More than 120 IPCC authors are meeting in Mexico City, Mexico, from 11 to 14 August to advance the First Order Draft of the 2027 Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CDR-CCUS). This report is being prepared by the IPCC’s Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) and is scheduled for release in 2027.

BHOPAL, Aug 3 – More than 100 leading scientists from 56 countries are meeting in Bhopal, India, from 3 to 7 August 2026 for the Fourth Lead Author Meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. This meeting is hosted by the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) with support from the government of India.

GENEVA, 6 July – Registration is now open for experts to review the First Order Draft of the Working Group I contribution to the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). The Working Group I contribution to AR7 is assessing the latest physical science basis of climate change, including observed and projected large-scale climate changes, climate processes and feedbacks, and regional climate information. The expert review, the first of multiple review stages, will run from 10 August to 2 October 2026.
