Emerson has announced a framework agreement with paint manufacturer Jotun to automate and digitalize its global manufacturing facilities. The five-year agreement will enable Jotun to implement Emerson’s digital technologies to enhance all aspects of manufacturing automation in new factories, and for selected upgrades in some of its 39 existing factories around the world.

Quebec-based AMD Medicom Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of personal protective equipment (PPE), has announced a new partnership with Vitacore Industries Inc., a British Columbia-based company that manufactures surgical masks and respirators. This partnership will encompass the manufacture and distribution of Vitacore respirators in new markets, including the US, as well as collaboration on a PPE recycling program developed by Vitacore.

Cenovus Energy announced it will restart work on the West White Rose oil project in Newfoundland, ending nearly two years of uncertainty in the local energy sector. The company said in a news release that work to complete the project will resume in 2023. “The joint venture owners have worked together to significantly de-risk this project over the past 16 months,” Cenovus president and chief executive officer Alex Pourbaix said in the release.

McDonald’s Canada has revealed a series of original works of art commissioned from a cross-country group of Canadian and Indigenous artists who are using trays made with up-cycled McDonald’s plastic straws as a canvas to display their artwork. Fifteen artists participated in the program and have created custom designs that reflect the artists’ diverse perspectives on sustainability and the environment.

Manac Inc., has been selected by General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada to design and build the light capability trailer and the Heavy Equipment Transporter in The Power Team’s bid for the Logistics Vehicle Modernization program. Manac, a trailer manufacturer, has selected K-Line Trailers to build the Heavy Equipment Transporters at their Langley, B.C., plant. An indigenous-owned business, K-Line was founded by CEO Les Knight and is owned by the Knight family.
