Search ArticlesRanking the books in the Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver
It's time to get into the nitty-gritty and rank Brynne Weaver's delightful series. Certain series grab hold of you and don't let go. That's the case with the Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver, which is a compulsively readable dark romance. Somehow, despite the dark subject matter, Weaver manages to make them feel fun at the very same time. Some might have been introduced to this series through BookTok, word of mouth or having the books catch their eye on a bookstore shelf.
Celebrate Monster Romance Month this May with these must-read books
Did you know that May is Monster Romance Month? Well, thanks to BookTok it is (and now we know about it)! And we wanted to celebrate. But how do you celebrate Monster Romance Month? How about by reading a variety of books and authors featuring monsters. Of course, there are a lot of romances that fit this description. From the smutty to the sweet, there are a wide range of books we can choose from for this particular theme.
Eat the Ones You Love is a uniquely intense horror novel
Eat the Ones You Love is a novel you won't soon forget. When it comes to picking up a book, most stick to their typical genre, and for me, it’s always been romance. Even so, Eat the Ones You Love came on my radar, so I decided to give it a shot. From the cover to the title, many can already guess that this has Little Shop of Horrors vibes. As someone who hasn’t ever watched the movie, this one already felt like it was out of my wheelhouse, but I chose to try it out.
Rebecca Yarros talks next Empyrean novel and Fourth Wing adaptations at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books
Rebecca Yarros appeared at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 26, 2025, speaking to a sold out crowd in the Bovard Auditorium on the University of Southern California campus. This marks the first time she’s been able to speak a bit more freely about the third installment of The Empyrean series, Onyx Storm, since the book’s release in January.

The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband is a rare Julia Quinn misfire
When people think of the American Revolution, I doubt many people immediately think of romance novels. And if they do, I doubt they think of them from a British perspective. But The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband takes the two uncommon ideas and puts them together. While I wish I could say this book was fantastic, this is the first Julia Quinn book I debated DNF'ing. And honestly, I wish I had. The book description created an interesting premise.
Scythe and Sparrow wraps up The Ruinous Love trilogy beautifully
Unsurprisingly, Brynne Weaver absolutely delivered with Scythe & Sparrow. When writing Butcher & Blackbird, there is no way Brynne Weaver could have predicted just how big and beloved this series would become. As someone who was afraid of the hype, I can attest to that sentiment. That's why slowly but surely I made my way through the series, and now, we're at the final book of the series, which is Scythe & Sparrow. I've previously reviewed Butcher & Blackbird, along with Leather & Lark.
What Once Was Mine is a twist on Disney's Rapunzel that's as fun as the original
Anyone who knows me knows my favorite Disney Princess is Rapunzel. I can relate to her equal parts joy and fear of the world, her curious personality, and her overall joyful outlook on life. Tangled is the movie I go to when I need a quick pick-me-up and a reminder that my dreams are worth working towards.
"On the Grid: Life Behind the Scenes of Formula 1" Is My New Go-To F1 Recommendation
March was a great time to be a Formula 1 fan and a reader as there were several books that had been published on the sport, and the season started up again in full swing. One of the books that I had read was On the Grid: Life Behind the Scenes of Formula 1, which I had seen months ago, and luckily remembered by the time publishing came around. I have read many, many books about Formula 1, and even watched quite a few documentaries because I had a lot of catch-up to do when I first became a fan.
Tears of the Wolf has a telepathic dog making it a perfect romance novel
Elisabeth Wheatley has one of my favorite book-themed social media presences on the internet. At least once a week (but typically more), I have someone send me one of her videos. Her character Book Goblin is such a mood that my own inner book goblin's voice now sounds suspiciously like hers. However, while I came for the Book Goblin character, I was delighted to find out she was also an author.
