When we speak about Allah, it is essential to be precise with our words. The way we describe Allah shapes how we understand Him, how we worship Him, and how we live our lives. One of the attributes often misunderstood is ḥayāʾ. This attribute is frequently translated as "shyness" or "modesty," but such translations can be misleading when applied to Allah. Ḥayāʾ is not a name of Allah, but an attribute-and its meaning, when attributed to Allah, is far deeper and more profound than human shyness.
