The 2026 cap for open access articles in journals included in the institutional deals that the University Library made with several publishers will be reached soon. EUR Library has many agreements in place with several academic publishers. These agreements allow corresponding authors affiliated with EUR and EMC to publish their peer-reviewed journal articles open access, at no additional cost. Some of these agreements, however, include a limited number of articles (also referred to as a ‘cap’).

Global progress on kid's rights slows The 2026 report points to a worrying global trend: progress in implementing children's rights is slowing and, in many countries, reversing. While only five countries improved their position in this year's Index, thirty-one countries moved down. As part of an Erasmus+ programme, a consortium at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Makerere University (Uganda) is planning a conference on the political and electoral implications of COVID-19. The aim of the conference is to turn the papers into a joint publication. Papers are welcome that assess the political fallout of COVID-19 either as a comparative study or as a single country case study.

The Good Life, a new comic book written by Giulia Bruchi and illustrated by Silvia Celiberti, brings findings from the PACES (Making migration and migration policy decisions amidst societal transformations) project to life through the stories of three young people navigating migration decisions.

On 10 June 2026, Marije Balt defended her thesis examining how European diplomats navigated EU–Türkiye migration cooperation during a period of geopolitical tension and implementation disputes. Balt's thesis introduces the concept of the high-stakes arena to capture settings in which cooperation remains necessary but becomes politically costly and difficult to sustain.
