By IU Today August 14, 2026 Three new members of the Indiana University Board of Trustees were introduced at today’s meeting following their recent appointments by Gov. Mike Braun. The new trustees are Matt Ferguson, former CEO of CareerBuilder; Steve Henke, founder and president of Henke Development Group; and Mel Raines, CEO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment. Each is an Indiana University graduate. Isaac White, a student trustee from IU Indianapolis, was sworn in for a second term.

KOKOMO, Ind. — The Indiana University Kokomo School of Business has received a six-year extension of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) business accreditation following its continuous improvement review. The AACSB Board of Directors ratified the recommendation, reaffirming the school’s commitment to excellence in business education and continuous improvement. The next review is scheduled for the 2031-2032 academic year.

Seven Indiana University students studied in Estonia this summer under the direction of J.D. Mendez. The program combined classroom instruction, laboratory work, field research, industry visits and cultural immersion. Students also earned credit for CHEM-C 252, a three-credit chemistry course focused on biopolymers and their real-world applications.

During its Aug. 14 meeting in Indianapolis, the Indiana University Board of Trustees approved revisions to BOT-34: Conflicts of Interest and Commitment. The revisions follow an extensive review process that included a faculty-majority working group, a public comment period, and input from the University Faculty Council, the Academic Leadership Council Executive Committee and the Policy Executive Committee.

Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and the Lumnia Foundation will host Perspectives on Philanthropy, a conversation addressing the importance of collective action, leadership, and philanthropy’s role in supporting organizations and communities during times of change. The event will take place on September 2 on the campus of Indiana University Indianapolis, with an online option available.

Her term began in mid-August. The Defense Advanced Research Agency is the research and development arm of the U.S. Department of Defense.

A delegation of Indiana University professors and administrators representing multiple campuses attended the University of Chicago’s Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression over the summer. John Ciorciari, Philip Goff, Anne Jbara, Mark Pike, Susan Popham, Dan Preston and Eric Weldy were among 60 academic leaders from about 20 major universities across the country who gathered at the forum to examine academic freedom, institutional neutrality, threats to free expression and other related topics.
