Jane Anson has lived in Bordeaux since 2003 and is author of Inside Bordeaux (BB&R Press 2020, called a ‘category buster’ by Wine Anorak and ‘the Bordeaux bible’ by Le Figaro), Haut-Bailly (First Press Editions 2021), Wine Revolution (Quarto 2017), The Club of Nine (Katz Publishing 2016) Angélus (Editions de la Martiniere, 2016) and Bordeaux Legends, a history of the 1855 First Growth wines (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, 2013, and re-released as an NFT ebook in 2022), as well as co-author or translator of over a dozen wine and travel books. She also became, in 2021, the only journalist to taste a bottle of Petrus that had spent 14 months circumnavigating the earth on the International Space Station.
She has won several awards for her writing, including Louis Roederer Wine Online Communicator of the Year 2020, and Born Digital Best Editorial 2020. She is also winner of the IWSC 2023 Wine Communicator Trophy. Source

FEATURES | News by Valeria Tenison As the harvest is coming to an end in most Bordeaux vineyards, picking is still underway for the Cabernets on both banks, although even in Pauillac some of the big names have now finished entirely, including Château Pichon Baron and Château Latour on September 18. France’s 2026 wine harvest is expected to reach only 34 million hectolitres, according to the first estimates from the Ministry of Agriculture.

LeClerc, chez milord duke de Kingston, à l’adresse de M. He is taking on the role of CEO, a position that has been empty since Aymeric de Gironde left in 2017 to join Château Troplong Mondot.

After a summer marked by five heatwaves across France, the harvest is already well underway in Bordeaux. The growers have had to move or shorten their traditional summer vacations. Picking for crémant and white wines began on August 6, the earliest start on record for the region, with the dry white for Y d’Yquem also beginning in the first week of August.

by Valeria Tenison Before this month’s news, it is worth pausing on the situation on the ground: wildfires have burned around 42,000 hectares in Gironde and forced 220,000 people to evacuate. It is one of the biggest evacuations in French history. The flames are advancing as close as 15 kilometres from Bordeaux’s suburbs. Thousands of firefighters and soldiers are on the ground fighting the blaze. Temperatures will rise again this week, so the fight is not over yet.
