In a response to the community members who organized the petition, Jasper National Park Superintendent Geneviève Caron acknowledged the campground’s importance to local families, but said Parks Canada must balance local interests with demand from visitors from across Canada and abroad, as well as the need to support Jasper’s recovery from the 2024 wildfire.

It gave third and final reading to the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Bylaw on Sept. 15, completing the process of adopting the new rules. For more than a decade, the dream of a new playground at Jasper Elementary School has been a work in progress. What began with conversations between parents about replacing the aging equipment has gradually become a multi-phase project involving parents, school staff, volunteers, donors and the wider community.
