by Don Berryman Keith Jarrett 01 © Rose Anne Colavito ECM is releasing Roma, the highly anticipated fifth and final concert recording from Keith Jarrett’s acclaimed final European solo tour of 2016, recorded live at the Santa Cecilia Hall in Rome on July 12th. This follows ECM’s releases of Munich 2016 in 2019, Budapest Concert in 2020, and Bordeaux Concert in 2022, and New VIena in 2025. The album contains 10 tracks of spontaneous and spellbinding music.

Chuck Mangione’s “Feels So Good” became one of the most recognizable instrumental recordings of its era — an extraordinary crossover success that carried the sound of a jazz horn into millions of homes, cars, radios and record collections. After listening to it I am sure it will be as loved as their first two installments which were both warmly received.

Steve Kenny Quintet Plays MetroNOME Brewery’s Fingal’s Cave on Friday, July 31st
The Steve Kenny Quintet will play a special show with elements of tribute to Sonny Rollins in recognition of his recent passing. The show will also include some Miles Davis material celebrating his 100th birthday. Also, there will be a Chuck Mangione tune or two in tribute to the late, great flugelhornist, composer and bandleader. The quintet includes Steve Kenny on Trumpet, Dave Brattain on Saxophones, Bryan Nichols on Piano, Chris Bates on Bass, and Miguel Hurtado on Drums.
Steve Swallow’s Winter Songs on ECM
by Don Berryman Bassist and composer Steve Swallow has released a finely crafted new album, Winter Songs, on ECM records with a seasoned sextet that includes Chris Cheek on tenor saxophone, Mike Rodriguez on trumpet, Steve Cardenas on guitar, Gil Goldstein on piano, and Adam Nussbaum on drums. It is Steve Swallow’s first release as a leader since Into The Woodworks, 2013, and his first recorded appearance on ECM; after John Scofield’s Swallow Tales and Carla Bley’s Life Goes On in 2020.
