Because you want to learn more about how to bring astrology to your writing practice. Because you want someone to remind you when Mercury is retrograde and when there are new and full moons coming up—and what to do about that. … because you want to know how all of that stuff actually impacts your work, so that you can use it. This is the last business-as-usual newsletter I’ll be writing here on Substack. Some folks have asked why I would do this, and the answer is, this is an incredible New Moon to go out on. However! I have received approximately one million messages asking for personalized next steps re: the newsletter migration, and I would like to preemptively beg your patience as there are thousands of you and I am but one woman. If you’re a free subscriber, the transition to beehiiv is taken care of.
It’s closing time, folks. If you’re a non-celebrity working writer whose newsletter is a load-bearing income stream, Substack has become irreparably bad for business. After seven years on this platform — as one of the early adopters! — I’m leaving. Nearly two years ago, I wrote an essay that went viral, and that has continued to make the rounds since it was first published in January 2024.
This is a surprisingly ~chill~ Scorpio moon, for all that Scorpio is ever chill. Perhaps it’s because the last eight years of Scorpio lunations have inevitably involved Uranus, who for an age sat in Scorpio’s opposite sign of Taurus. But this Scorpio Full Moon is, finally, Uranus-free, and thus able to move at its own pace: slowly, steadily, strategically — and without unexpected interference.
Aaaaand settle. Sit. Synthesize. This week, we are integrating the Major Changes April has brought and wrought. We’ve got a Full Moon on Friday (which as always will get its own newsletter), and Mercury changes signs, but mostly, the astro-weather is (blessedly!) cooling off. Also: now that this first cohort of Book Deal Breakthrough has started (!!), I’m finally shifting my attention to moving this newsletter off of Substack. More on that soon.
We start this Sunday, April 26th with our welcome and opening ritual at 1pm Eastern. Sign up by 11:59pm Eastern tonight to get the welcome email (with all the links AND some extra goodies!) tomorrow. A lot of folks have asked if you have to be ~ready~ to query agents to sign up.
Magic. I didn’t get published until I did magic for publication. you can be normal barbie and keep doing what isn’t working or weird barbie AND EMBRACE THE WEIRD MAGICAL SHIT! Until I remembered that I’m a witch and can do a fucking spell about my book. Can use insights from my own astrological birth chart to better position myself in this industry. Can create altars and workings for my writing career.
PSA: This Substack is written by a human, for you the reading human. All images I source are by real fuckin’ people. This week brings the Grand Finale of Uranus’s 8 year transit through Taurus. Along the way, we have Taurus season, a Venus ingress, and a major moment between Mars and Saturn that means starting the week slow.
📚 You can order a signed copy of my memoir Heretic through my local bookshop! Put in a comment if you want it extra-personalized! ⭐️ Calling all bad bitches with a book project who know that magic will help you get published: Book Deal Breakthrough, a ten-week intensive marrying the magical with the practical, starts Sunday, April 26th. Doors are open. I’m on deadline for the astrology book, but my focus since wrapping up weeks of family-related travel has been my Novel WIP.
PSA: This Substack is written by a human, for you the reading human. All images I source are by real fuckin’ people. This newsletter emerges from my core belief that creativity is the root of the human soul — and is one of the primary vehicles through which we explore and connect with Spirit. The historically high number of Aries conjunctions continues this week. Warehouses are burning. The people are fed up. And art is more important than ever.
