Tales From the Farm

Greetings Farmhands As summer rolls on, and SDCC approaches, I thought it would be the right time to announce a few things… JSA First off, I did an AMA over at The League of Comic Geeks last week and revealed that Issue #24 would mark the end of my run as writer of JSA for DC Comics. Despite what what a few articles have said, I did not “quit” the book. Quitting implies leaving before something is finished, or leaving on bad terms, and neither is the case here.

FIRST LOOK AT JEFF LEMIRE & DUSTIN NGUYEN’S UPCOMING CROWBOUND SERIES LAUNCHING THIS SEPTEMBER The bestselling, award winning creative team behind such sales chart toppers as Descender, Ascender, and Little Monsters—Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen—will re-team with an all-new ongoing series in the upcoming Crowbound. This dark fantasy epic was first teased at NYCC last year, previewed exclusively at IGN earlier this month, and is set to launch this September from Image Comics.

Greetings Farmhands Been a while since I’ve had any time to do a regular update on my various projects. I’ve been plugging away at drawing Minor Arcana and trying to get ahead on scripts, but I thought I would try and catch you up on all the latest… ABSOLUTE FLASH Issue 14 of Absolute Flash hit stores last week and featured Wally and Linda’s adventures in the “Mirror Dimension”.

Farmhands Excited to announce that The Fury of Firestorm #1 has SOLD OUT and has gone back for a second printing! AND I can also announce that the series has been expanded from it’s original 6-issue format to 9-issues! I’m really happy that the book seems to have struck a chord with retailers and readers.

BREAKING NEWS! I have signed a 5-book deal with Harper Collins’ Harper Alley imprint as part of their inaugural line of original graphic novels for adults! The first 3 books of the this new deal will be the supernatural detective series, MR. OBLIVION with artist Teddy Kristiansen.

Hey Farmahands. Wanted to drop a line to let you know that a huge new batch of my original artwork just went up for sale over at Comic-Con Art A number of new Minor Arcana pieces, including the more recent covers, are now available. And I also dug up a bunch of old artwork from my 2008 graphic novel THE NOBODY. If you haven’t read The Nobody, it was my first work for DC Comics/Vertigo, and it’s a modern reimagining of HG Wells’ The Invisible Man.

Plus Flash, Firestorm and Crowbound! Hey Farmhands. Sorry for the lack of updates the last couple of months. Winter has hit hard and I have been even busier than usual, writing and drawing Minor Arcana, writing Absolute Flash, Firestorm, and JSA for DC, writing Crowbound for Dustin Nguyen, and Image, and working on a new screenplay adaptation of one of my past books. The Fury of Firestorm by Gerry Conway and Pat Broderick was one of my favorite comics when I was a kid in the 1980’s, so it’s a huge thrill to be relaunching the title, along with artist Rafael DeLatorre, and colorist Marcelo Maiolo, as part of DC Comics “Next Level” initiative! The series will launch in April and it’s been a real labour of love for the whole creative team.

The penultimate issue of our third story arc, “The Moon”, is on final order, so make sure you contact your local shop to reserve yourself a copy. This issue sets up BIG things for the second half of the series and is not to be missed. It also features a great variant cover by Simon Gane. Here’s my tarot cover for the issue as well as a preview of some of the interior pages illustrated by me and colored by Patricio Delpeche.
