Our adventure continues! I left off with our flight from Vienna to Rome’s Fiumicino (FCO) Airport. Originally, I planned to book a hotel in Rome, but after looking at the map, I realized it didn’t make much sense. We were landing around 5 p.m., needed to board our Princess cruise the following morning, and Rome’s city center is out of the way from the Port of Civitavecchia.

After our incredible VIVA river cruise down the Danube, it was time to head to our next destination: Rome. Unfortunately, we had to leave the ship a day early instead of completing the round-trip itinerary back to Vienna because we had booked a Princess cruise departing from Rome on June 15. All of the flights from Vienna (or even Munich) to Rome either left too early in the morning or too late in the day, making it impossible to arrive before the ship’s 4pm departure.

My family and I just returned from an epic 3.5-week trip to Europe. If you’ve been following along, we kicked things off by flying from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), also known as Roissy Airport. We spent three incredible nights in a Whimstay apartment.
