For me, packing has become a lot simpler over the years, not because I bring less but because I’ve figured out which travel gadgets genuinely deserve a permanent spot in my bag. From keeping all my devices charged to making long flights, hotel stays and days on the go that little bit easier, these are the products I reach for on every trip. This round-up features the travel tech I actually use and recommend.

A shocking video from Yellowstone National Park is going viral after a tourist was seriously injured Friday evening when a bull bison tossed him about eight feet into the air. All the Apps You Should Download to Your Phone Before Your Trip to Europe
A reader recently asked: “We’re headed to Rome, Florence, and Cinque Terre the last week of August. We’re trying to be prepared for which apps we should have on our phones. We’re from the U.S., and none of us have traveled to Europe before.” It’s one of the most common questions I get, and the good news is that I just returned from a month in Europe visiting France, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Italy, Greece, Montenegro, and Finland.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) Has Officially Been Renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT) and the Backlash Is Intense
Yesterday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) began transitioning Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) to its new designation, Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT). According to Fox News: “The name change was required under legislation signed by Florida Gov.
Looking for a Hotel Near Rome’s Civitavecchia Cruise Port? Our Family’s Stay Before a Cruise
Our adventure continues! I left off with our flight from Vienna to Rome’s Fiumicino (FCO) Airport. Originally, I planned to book a hotel in Rome, but after looking at the map, I realized it didn’t make much sense. We were landing around 5 p.m., needed to board our Princess cruise the following morning, and Rome’s city center is out of the way from the Port of Civitavecchia.
The World Cup Is Reminding the World Who Americans Really Are
I’ve been fortunate in so many ways, including being born in the United States of America, where dreams really can come true. I know the U.S. has developed some negative perceptions around the world because of the news and the messaging coming out of Washington D.C. But it’s worth remembering what Mark Twain once said: “Loyalty to the country always. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it.” Just because you travel to a country doesn’t mean you agree with its government.
How I Use My Phone in Europe Without Getting Hit With Expensive Roaming Charges
I just got a text from my cousin asking: “Did you use your phone in Italy, and how much did it cost?” It’s a question I get all the time. The answer depends on your carrier and your plan, so it’s always worth checking with your provider before you travel. I have T-Mobile’s unlimited plan, which includes international data, but I’ve found that speeds can be painfully slow in some countries. Sometimes it’s so sluggish that I can’t even reliably pull up directions.
The Ultimate America 250 Getaway: Washington, DC
As America marks its 250th birthday, the best place to celebrate the nation’s remarkable journey is Washington, DC. During this once-in-a-generation milestone, the capital comes alive with special exhibitions, commemorative events, and a renewed sense of patriotism that extends far beyond the National Mall.
Trip Report: Linz to Rome by Train and Austrian Airlines
After our incredible VIVA river cruise down the Danube, it was time to head to our next destination: Rome. Unfortunately, we had to leave the ship a day early instead of completing the round-trip itinerary back to Vienna because we had booked a Princess cruise departing from Rome on June 15. All of the flights from Vienna (or even Munich) to Rome either left too early in the morning or too late in the day, making it impossible to arrive before the ship’s 4pm departure.
VIVA Moments River Cruise Review: What It’s Really Like Onboard
My family and I just returned from an epic 3.5-week trip to Europe. If you’ve been following along, we kicked things off by flying from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), also known as Roissy Airport. We spent three incredible nights in a Whimstay apartment. Since our apartment wasn’t ready until at least 2pm and we landed at 9am, we partnered with Daytrip to do some sightseeing instead of just waiting around. One of the highlights was attending Sunday Mass at Notre Dame.
