The pond is privately owned and maintained by the Verde Village Community Connection, formally known as the Verde Village Property Owners Association, a 501(c)(4) a volunteer-run nonprofit.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office announced Sept. 16 the arrest of 57-year-old Laura Lee Amundson of Rimrock on drug charges, tied to a broader investigation into a string of suspected mail and package thefts of mailboxes across the Verde Valley, with several incidents centered around the Salt Mine Road area.

Kelly Lee Brower, 68, of Cottonwood, faces extradition to Texas on 45-year-old capital murder charges after investigators used modern forensic testing to connect him to a 1981 sexual assault and homicide, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced Aug. 28.
