Effect of training method and dairy cow personality traits on adaptation to an automated milking system

Cows that were trained using both the mechanics of the AMS (noises, robotic arm) and environment exposure had a higher milk yield compared to cows who were not trained.

Long-term effects of pre-weaning social housing on response to a social and housing transition in pregnant heifers

Upon introduction to a free stall pen, heifers raised in pairs were more active, spent more time feeding and less time in a stall, and had greater competitive success for stall access, compared with heifers raised individually.
Improving market (cull) dairy cows carcass traits and meat quality

A feeding period for cull dairy cows following drying off from lactation improved dressing percentage, intramuscular fat, and ribeye area.
Rumen-protected methionine supplementation during the transition period under artificially induced heat stress: impacts on cow-calf performance
ABSTRACT Dairy cows experiencing heat stress (HS) during the pre-calving portion of the transition period give birth to smaller calves and produce less milk and milk protein. Supplementation of rumen-protected methionine (RPM) has been shown to modulate protein, energy, and placenta metabolism, making it a potential candidate to ameliorate HS effects. We investigated the effects of supplementing RPM to transition cows under HS induced by electric heat blanket (EHB) on cow-calf performance.
