As is our Sunday tradition, let’s start today’s newsletter with a brain teaser. Can you turn these letters into a 7-letter word in three minutes or less? Answer at the end! By Darren Johnson Journal & Press When I teach introductory journalism classes, I may do a portion of a class on “the anatomy of a front page.” Usually, I will pick a broadsheet paper with a lot of different elements on the cover, and explain what all the parts are and how they are important.

Print Update: The papers printed later than expected yesterday, so we’re just getting them to the post office and stores now. SIGHTING —With the advent of warm weather, the calls about snake identification begin to spike. A central characteristic of these calls is the fact that in virtually every case, someone has made a very specific as well as very wrong answer. Sometimes, this is understandable.

Our latest issue is below the paywall. We had planned on taking it easy for July and only do 32-pagers, but so many last-second items came in we had to bump this issue to 40 pages. This really shows that there is a demand for being in the print edition! And people see a great value in being in it! Hope you enjoy! Proulx’s event will feature discussion and poetry while participants create collages.

We’ll get back on track in August and definitely for political season. File photo: Stan Mattison, Jr. Our next issue should lead off with a story on the Greenwich Town Board censuring Highway Superintendent Stan Mattison, Jr., for allegedly using town property for personal use as well as, the town board said, misappropriating some expenditures.

The second installment of this summer’s Music at the Library monthly summer music series comes to Mowry Park in Greenwich TONIGHT, Monday, July 20, at 6:00pm. Local band River Man will graciously step in as a last minute replacement for Fife & Drom of Brooklyn, who had to bow out due to illness. The Rollin’ in Gravy food truck will be on site serving dinner and snacks. River Man features Greenwich local Eric Kufs alongside bassist Austin Nicholson and drummer Nick Parslow.

The Journal & Press is eligible for a grant from a New England non-profit to help train a reporter to cover the Vermont portion of our coverage area. You would get a stipend of $300 a month during 12 weeks of training. You don’t need to live in New England, but coverage must be done in New England to qualify.
