Ken E. Lane | Journal Review
Ken E. Lane, 56, of Eaton, Indiana, passed away after a hard fight during his brief illness on Friday, July 10, 2026, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Ken was born Dec. 12, 1969, in Crawfordsville, to Daniel and Jeanne (Nichols) Lane. He graduated from North Montgomery High School in 1988 and from Ball State University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. On Oct. 14, 1994, he married Melissa Murray and together they made their home in Eaton.
CCSC reviews new AI policy
The Crawfordsville Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees began reviewing a new AI policy Thursday while also approving an update to the student transportation handbook and several personnel recommendations. The meeting opened with the board’s Spotlight on Excellence, recognizing student artists from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Commissioners receive update on IDEM cleanup
Montgomery County Commissioners have received notice from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management that the cleanup of the Tri-County Petroleum property located on U.S. 231 South has been completed. The gas tanks on the property have been removed and the ground has been tested. Commissioners must now execute and record a restrictive covenant on the property. The covenant will list restrictive uses for the property in the future.
Pamela ‘Pam’ Lynn Stone
Pamela “Pam” Lynn Stone, 76, of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Lane House, with her sons by her side. Born Jan. 21, 1950, in Crawfordsville, to the late Donald and Dorothy Servies, Pam was a proud graduate of Crawfordsville High School. She married David Stone on Oct. 2, 1971. While she held various positions throughout her life; her true professional dedication was spent delivering newspapers for the Indianapolis Star.
John Kenyon Roberts - Journal Review
John Kenyon Roberts, 96, of Crawfordsville died at Franciscan Hospital on July 9, 2026, with his family at his side. Ken was born April 1, 1930, in Indianapolis, to Earl and Marie Batton Roberts and grew up on a farm near Ladoga. He graduated from Ladoga High School in 1948 where he enjoyed baseball and basketball. Many great friends and memories from those years made for amusing stories shared with his kids and grandkids.
Hiker rescued from Shades SP
MARSHALL — Teamwork was on full display Thursday during a challenging rescue at Shades State Park. The Crawfordsville Fire Department “C-Shift,” Waveland Volunteer Fire Department, Shades State Park Personnel and Montgomery County Central Dispatch worked together to safely rescue an injured woman who suffered injuries while hiking on Trail 8.
