I’m back in the kitchen after shooting my cookbook for 9 days straight and I was f*cking exhausted to say the least! After dropping Grey off at training camp in Northern Cali than coming straight back to LA the same my body crashed earlier this week, so I was slowly coming back to the newsletter.
a bowl of comfort (what to cook when you don't really feel like it)
Let’s try posting this again… I was having a very lazy Sunday yesterday. I watched church from home in the morning then made my way to the farmers market in the late morning to grab a couple of things. We start shooting the cookbook later this week so I didn’t need a lot because my fridge is being taken over by the food stylist.

cava grilled chicken bowl
When I moved back to Washington, D.C. after living in NYC for about 5 years, they opened a Cava by my job and I was hooked ever since. Now, no shade but I do think the quality has gone down so I like to make my own version at home. Now, with the recent cyclosporasis outbreak, I left out fresh herbs like parsley because I didn’t grab any from the farmers market this past week. Everything else like the lettuce is from the farmers market and sourced locally.
the big lex special: rotisserie chicken pesto sandwich
The summer sandwich series continues with this big ass sandwich that I have to say was SO F*CKING GOOD! Now, there is no shade to store bought pesto but if you can, try and make the pesto from scratch because it really is so easy and even better homemade *sends in invisible ink. I personally LOVE a garlicky pesto so I added 2-3 cloves of garlic but just opt for one for just as much garlic flavor — I’m just a garlic freak. Also, if you don’t like rotisserie chicken (in which are you ok!?
mango matcha lemonade (and why you should support your local farmers market)
Hollywood Farmers Market = my happy place Yes, this is totally about the mango matcha lemonade recipe that I’m giving you below in the newsletter but as I was at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market this week buying these exact mangos, I was saying to myself, how much I love the market and I wish there wasn’t such a “luxe” stigma around it. It reminded me of Trinity Mouzon Wofford’s post on rebranding the Farmers Market from “luxe” to “local economy” because she hit it right on the nose.
ginger garlic smashed shrimp taco + quick slaw with a chili crisp drizzle
This has recipe has been in my mind for a couple of weeks when the viral blanket dumplings hit the internet and I thought ‘what about in a taco lol?’ I’ve been craving something that is crunchy, bright, savory with a little bit of spice and this hit all of it for me! SO BEYOND GOOD! And because we love a shortcut, I’m using a store bought pre-made Asian inspired salad mix to make a quick slaw but kicked up a notch! I went to my best friend’s Ash’s house after making this to see her mom who...
crispy chicken (garlicky) caesar wrap
A very fun fact, did you know that the caesar salad turns 102 today!? Well in the spirit of this classic girl’s birthday and the summer sandwich series, I’m bringing you a very iconic crispy chicken caesar salad wrap! There’s alot of hate around this wrap but I think it’s so good. For the caesar dressing, we are using a shortcut with Graza Garlic Aioli because yes, we can totally make caesar dressing from scratch which I love but I also love using pre-made mayo.
charred corn avocado salsa + smashed seared salmon
This recipe came about when I was at the Farmers’ Market for my weekly run and I passed by some sweet corn on my way to my fave lettuce farmer. We are in PEAK corn season right now so of course I had to grab some.
catfish po'boys + cajun remoulade
We’re back for another episode in the summer sandwich series and this is inspired by one of my favorite cities, New Orleans! Po’boys is iconic to Nola. It’s so simple but so good and this is my version!
