Oh, hi. I’ve been sitting in the shop for about twenty minutes, checking some messages on my phone, opening some post, and wandering around looking at the books, all without even telling you every single thing I am doing and thinking! That’s not the deal, is it?! Not on Fridays, when I am here only for you, beloved readers of this newsletter.

Receipt from the Bookshop
Hello and Good Morning to You! Yes, YOU. It’s Friday, and I can’t really remember if I was here last Friday or not. Was last week normal? All the days feel confused now, school holidays means the schedule is completely abandoned, plus my husband went into work on a different day and we all had the day off yesterday to go and see the golf, so now I feel like it’s Sunday and we shouldn’t even be open at all. But we are, because my calendar tells me that it is, indeed, just a Friday.
Welcome to Glorious Tuga
Book Club posts are for paid subscribers. A weekly subscription costs less than Fizzycan. Huge thanks to my newest subscribers, I can’t wait to write for you. I’ll be back in the bookshop on Friday, and will send the next Receipt from the Bookshop at closing time, free for all subscribers. You can pre-order my book, Receipts from the Bookshop, here. But for now, let’s Book Club.

Pocahontas is hanging precariously from the roof of a three storey building. Chelsea is already contorted on the floor, her vacant smile proof of the sudden brain explosion that must have occurred on impact. Her chair, lying feet away from where she fell through the air, perhaps, momentarily, while still sat in it. The golf ball has rolled out of play, the club, still loosely in the grip of an unconscious player.
Summertime, and the reading is easy...
Hello, thank you for being here! I’ll be back in the bookshop soon for another (free) Receipt from the Bookshop, but today’s post is for my paid subscribers. Receipt from the Bookshop
Hello! I am back in the bookshop! Feels like absolute yonks when I take a Friday off, doesn’t it? I notice it too. I always hope, in the time that I’ve been off, all the most boring days might have slithered by while I wasn’t looking, and when I return there’ll be a deluge of Top Quality Content for me to tell you about. Which, generally, means encounters with nutters, doesn’t it?
All the books I read last month

Hello, hello and especial hello to my newest subscribers, I’m so glad you’re here. The monthly Book Club posts are for paid subscribers (I’m sorry, it’s quite late this month) and you’ll have to accept some more of my apologies because I’m afraid there won’t be a Receipt this week as I’m away on Friday to do some book stuff. Normal service resumes next week! In the meantime, You can buy my book, Receipts from the Bookshop, here. But for now, let’s Book Club.

It’s Friday, it’s 11.11 and I am LATE to the opening of this draft. I was also late to opening the shop, because the Bookwormlet had a special assembly in which her year did a presentation of everything they’d done that school year (not new information to me, tbh) and then certificates were awarded to… every single child. They also sang loads of songs, most of which seem to be from ‘The Greatest Showman’. Urgh! Give us some proper bangers from Come and Praise, at least.
