Executive Director of Transportation Kim Crabtree says moving roughly 6,000 students each school day takes major coordination, with about 150 drivers covering 90 routes from hubs in Bend and La Pine. Crabtree says drivers are preparing for full buses and active neighborhoods, especially during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off.
Fatal Train Accident
(Portland, OR) -- One teenager was killed and another was injured attempting to jump off a moving train Monday evening in St. Johns. Portland Police say two 16-year-old boys got onto an idle freight train in Vancouver and rode the car to Portland. OHSU Psilocybin Study
(Portland, OR) -- New research shows promise for Oregon's psilocybin treatment industry. A study on Oregon and Colorado's psilocybin treatment clinics finds they're safe and the results are promising. The results of the Oregon Health Science University study show patient reactions three months after treatment. Seventy-five percent of the patients reported improvement in PTSD, anxiety and depression symptoms. About a quarter of the patients said their overall feeling of wellbeing improved.
Sunnyside Measles Alert
(Clackamas, OR) -- The latest measles exposure is at the Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center. On Monday, people in the waiting room between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. may have been exposed to a patient with measles. They should check their vaccination records and watch for measles symptoms. Child Death Investigation
(Central Point, OR) -- Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a two-year-old child in Central Point. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a report of a missing child around 4:30 Wednesday morning. Oregon Lost 4,100 Jobs In July
(Salem, OR) -- Oregon's labor market lost 41-hundred jobs in July following a gain of 13-hundred jobs in June. The Oregon Employment Department reports professional and business services lost the most jobs, followed by leisure and hospitality and government. Retail trade added 500 jobs. Oregon's unemployment rate remained at five-point-two percent, which is unchanged since January. It's about a percent higher than the national unemployment rate.

(Salem, OR) -- Oregon's ZERO Fleet Rebate Program has allocated all 17-million-dollars to help buy zero emission vehicles. Businesses, nonprofits and government agencies were eligible for the money. One-hundred-and-fifty vehicles are being purchased. It includes 90 heavy-duty vehicles, like garbage trucks, big rigs and school buses, and more than 60 cargo and utility box vans.

(Salem, OR) -- Oregon seafood commodity commissions met with Governor Tina Kotek to discuss wastewater permitting challenges. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality requires testing and processing for metals and chlorine. Seafood processors say they don't add metals or chlorine during their process, but it is added by municipal water supplies they can't control. Removing the chemicals is expensive and would lower the quality of the seafood product.
