Launching on May 17, 2026, Trekkies can look forward to two all-new canon webcomic series set within the Star Trek universe, Stargazers and Recollection.
Hologram speculations and more for KPop Demon Hunters world tour
Netflix has partnered with AEG Presents to bring the music of KPop Demon Hunters to life. In several PR email blasts, the two companies announced an upcoming concert tour that promises to bring elements of the award-winning movie to the stage. Although, details have been light so far, fans can sign up to RSVP here. Information on which cities will be part of the tour will be announced at a later time.
WEBTOON and Warner Bros. Animation add 4 more hit webcomics to receive animated adaptations
May 13, 2026, WEBTOON and Warner Bros. Animation just announced 4 more WEBTOON Original series that will be receiving animated adaptations. This comes as the two companies announced their partnership back in November of 2025 with the goal to Co-Produce animated adaptations of 10 WEBTOON Original series. Last year the four series that were announced to be adapted are as follows: The Stellar Swordsmaster by Hong Dae Ui, Juno and Q10.

Legendary and Rocketship Ent. announce webtoon print editions
Yesterday, K-Comics Beat’s parent site announced that Rocketship Entertainment and Legendary Comics are printing two webtoon titles: Firebrand and ROB. The two companies are partnering up for what is expected to be new territory for both. At ComicsPRO 2026, Legendary is still in the publishing game, and is teaming up with the Rocketship Entertainment for their reach and infrastructure. Rocketship has previously published other major web comic series, such as Leeanne M.
Lezhin Snack shows first look at PAINTER OF THE NIGHT
Short-form drama platform app, Lezhin Snack, released the first teaser video and poster for its live-action adaptation of its popular BL, Painter of the Night. The historic BL series from author Byeonduck will premiere on May 28 at 5PM KST. Longtime fans will be excited to see characters Nakyum Baek and Seungho Yoon by Min Seo Ji and Kang Jae Kim, respectively. Director Bo Kyung Choi previously co-directed The Divorce Insurance.
StudioMonowa penned as latest Korea-Japan media venture
Three media giants, CJ ENM, TBS, and U-NEXT, came together and announced a new joint venture in the Korean and Japanese media space: StudioMonowa. During a signing ceremony, top leadership from all three companies attended a ceremony to provide more details on the partnership. Sang-hyun Yoon (CEO of CJ ENM), Ryujiro Abe (President & CEO of TBS), and Tenshin Tsutsumi (CEO of U-NEXT Co., Ltd.) shared their intention to combine the core strengths of all three companies.
Piccoma angers manga authors and readers with AI animations
Japanese digital manga, web novel, and webtoon app, Piccoma, previewed its “ANIME” category which utilizes generative AI to turn select manga works into short form anime. Specifically, AI technology is used as part of the animation production process, while humans handle quality control. The episode previews are currently only available on the app, which is region locked to users in Japan. Its developer, Kakao Piccoma Corp., is a Japanese subsidiary of Kakao Corporation.
A first glimpse into WEBTOON’s 2026 Creator Residency Program
The world of WEBTOON is ever expanding lately with new series, new deals, collaborations, and even programming. As covered back in my earlier piece back in December of 2025, WEBTOON has announced a major expansion of its many creator programs for 2026. Well, 2026 is here and one of those programs is the Creator Residency Program set to officially launch in Q1 of 2026.
