Many Voices, One Nation Exhibit at NMAH Late on Independence Day, the White House Domestic Policy Council released a 162-page report titled “Saving America’s Story,” accusing the National Museum of American History of “institutional capture by a radical, activist ideology.” The timing was by no means accidental. The administration chose the nation’s birthday, on the eve of the Semiquincentennial, to declare that the country’s flagship history museum cannot be trusted to tell the American story.
