(KEYT) – Fire teams are responding to a quarter-acre vegetation fire off of Estrella Road northeast of Paso Robles Wednesday. According to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, there are no structures currently threatened by the flames in the 6400 block of Estrella Road, but drivers are asked to avoid the area as responders head to the area to battle the fire.

This rare phenomenon is sometimes seen in the kinds of megafires that afflict the US and Canada, but was unprecedented in France, until now — and it’s just one sign that Europe is entering a new fire era, experts say. The Alpha Capricornids are active from early July to mid-August, and the Southern Delta Aquariids are active from mid-July to mid-August, but both are expected to reach their peaks — the point at which Earth will pass through the densest part of the shower — Thursday night into Friday, according to the American Meteor Society.
