This week A Charlie Brown Christmas aired on national prime time television for the 50th time. In a world where the latest greatest technology is outdated in a matter of months, and social media trends come and go in a matter of days, 50 years of anything becomes quite meaningful. I am a fan of all things nostalgic and all things Christmas, and so when the two are combined I am hooked, and the Charlie Brown Christmas special falls squarely into that category.

When you need healing for your body and spirit, you can call on God himself – the Great Physician – to heal you. God will direct your entire healing journey. When you feel overwhelmed by physical illness or injuries, emotional stress or pain, or spiritual issues, the Bible encourages you to pray with the confidence that God cares about your well-being. The idea of God as the greatest doctor of all comes from Jesus’ words in Mark 2:17: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

Since the holidays are upon us and I’ve been writing about entertaining for Thanksgiving, I thought I would include a post this week with a roundup of some of my latest finds from Amazon. There are festive paper plates and napkins, along with table linens, wine glasses and accessories, a marble cheese board, and other lovely items needed for entertaining. Enjoy!

Never before in history have we been so connected or had more access to so many voices. Social media has become woven into our daily lives: we scroll when we wake up, we scroll when we feel bored, we scroll when we feel anxious, and we scroll when we are looking for hope or distraction. We turn to our screens for companionship, news, entertainment, opinions, affirmation, and sometimes even spiritual guidance.

As a mom, I confess I had many years of struggling with anger. As a biblical counselor, I can tell you many, many moms struggle with anger. If you are one of those moms, you’re not alone. Anger comes in many forms, and not all moms express their anger in the same way. But any consistent form of angry outbursts can leave long-lasting negative effects on your spouse and children. If you are an angry mom, you likely feel guilt and shame.

I chuckle sometimes when I hear young couples talking about their plans for the future. They usually have it all mapped out. They’ll be married at this age, buy their first home by that age, have their first child a few years later, and then the second child two or three years after the first. And those of us who are older and listening want to jump in with an important reminder—it’s okay to have a plan, but plan to be flexible.

Living on purpose is something many strive to do; it fills one's life with motivation to be better than they were the day before. People seek to live with intentionality because there is a deep desire to fill our lives and the lives of others with meaning. For singles, living with intentionality in singleness means living with a distinct purpose. It means that you understand the assignment God has given you, and you are walking in it.
