Last Friday (Aug. 28), Mastodon released their ninth studio album (Marrow Deep), which is their first without late guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds and their first with guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira. Among the many questions surrounding the record is why the group decided to call it Marrow Deep, and during a new chat with iHeartRadio Canada, drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor explained precisely that.

Bad Wolves guitarist AJ Rebollo, who first joined the group as a touring guitarist in 2023, has just quit the band, citing the upcoming release of a cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" as the breaking point. Yesterday (Aug. 28), a press release was issued, announcing that the cover of the late country star's classic 1974 hit would be officially released on Monday (Aug. 31).

In what is believed to be among the first of its kind, a Goodwill-branded record store is nearly ready to open its doors to customers. Think of it as a place where the resale business is more focused on music rather than donated clothing.

Hell Below/ Stars Above is the most criminally overlooked rock album of all time. It is my absolute favorite from the Toadies. It's as emotional and gorgeous as Southern Gothic music can be, and it is very dear to me. And now, for the first time in 25 years, it's available on vinyl. Ah, Labor Day. One of America's holidays with no true origin. We'll get into what that means in a second, but for now, let's go over the offices in Lubbock that will be closed on Monday, September 7. Trash pickup will have an altered schedule, meaning that solid waste will be collected (gross) on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 8 and 9, rather than Monday and Tuesday. Speaking of trash, both Lubbock landfills will be closed on Labor Day as well. This also goes for attended drop-off stations.
