Topeka, KS— A state already gearing up for voters to decide whether to strike abortion rights from the Kansas Constitution reacted with both glee and dismay at the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the 49-year-old Roe v. Wade precedent on Friday. The high court left states relatively unfettered to limit, and even ban, abortion. That holds a particular impact in Kansas — which once again finds itself a national battleground on the forever-contentious issue.

KCLY and KFRM are partnering with neighboring communities to share information about missing Kansas kids. We have personally seen how a simple share can make a difference in finding these children and bringing them home. This week’s Missing Kansas kids are: 17 Year old Kiana Turner of Linn Valley, Kansas. She has been missing since June 19, 2022. 15 year old Zamiya McNeil from Lenexa, Kansas. It is believed that Zamiya may be in the Johnson County, Kansas area or in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Kansas- The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, in a decision overturning the nearly 50-year-old case of Roe v. Wade, ruled that it’s up to each state to determine what, if any, restrictions to impose on abortion access. That ruling raises the stakes for an upcoming constitutional amendment vote in Kansas. The high court’s ruling confirms what was expected for weeks after a draft of the decision was leaked showing the 1973 precedent was doomed.

Topeka, KS– Governor Laura Kelly announced that total tax collections for December were $1.1 billion — $140.1 million, or 14.8%, more than the monthly estimate. That is also 21.9%, or $194.6 million, more than December 2021.

Kyle Bauer announced that his family and affiliated companies have bought 10 radio stations Thursday, February 1 on a bankruptcy auction. The stations were formerly owned by Rocking M and Melia Communications and are licensed to Goodland, Colby, Dodge City, Cimarron, and Liberal, Kansas. The stations were purchased by Kansas Broadcasting Company, LLC which is entirely owned by Kyle and Lisa Bauer and Bauer, Inc, a family owned corporation.

Oklahoma- More than 90 cannabis-related bills were filed at the beginning of the session, but as lawmakers wind down their time at the Capitol, only 20 remain. Four bills have been signed by Gov. Kevin Stitt, while others are waiting to be heard on the floor or are working through conference committees. Several of the bills are aimed at cracking down on the cannabis black market — an issue heightened by multiple large-scale illegal marijuana busts.
