The Kansas City Royals are riding a hot August, both in the weather and win-loss column, into September. While they are still looking to secure the first winning month of the season, an eight-game winning streak goes a long way in showing the team still has fight and is competing despite the likely 90-plus-loss season outcome. Keeping that fire going into September will give fans a positive final taste of the season, but hopefully it will also point to some future roster hope heading into 2027.

Riding an incredible eight-game winning streak, the Kansas City Royals don't look utterly hopeless like they have for much of the 2026 season. In fact, while still certainly facing long-shot odds, amid this winning streak and winning second-half in general, the Royals are no longer in a double-digit game deficit of the final AL Wild Card spot. It's not great chances by any stretch, but when a team is winning like Kansas City is right now, postseason conversations are bound to come up.

The Kansas City Royals have been one of the more active teams on the midseason transaction market this season. However, one signing that fans were likely scratching their heads about when it was made was the one that brought Craig Kimbrel in on a major league contract. Sure, Kimbrel is all but likely set for the Hall of Fame as one of baseball's best career closers, but his prime days are well behind him and there was a reason both the Mets and Rays cut him loose this season.

Kansas City Royals first baseman Jac Caglianone was a first baseman in college, not counting his action on the mound. Serious Royals fans were watching Double-A Northwest Arkansas lineups daily early last season, waiting to see when the first baseman would move to the outfield as had long been desired.

The Kansas City Royals are certainly basking in the glow of their current eight game winning streak, with the postseason conversation suddenly coming back into earshot - within reason of course. Very seldomly have the Royals been able to proved the fanbase with a palpable buzz quite like this this season, but no one can say they aren't playing great baseball of late. One name that's been great in particular during this winning streak is their captain Salvador Perez.

Whenever I ask people who I know are still watching the Kansas City Royals at this point in 2026, the answer is never about the overall team play or living and dying by every game result left on the schedule. Usually, it is about a specific player who has a tie to 2027. Can shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. rebound into the MVP conversation this season? Can outfielder Jac Caglianone keep his production at the plate rolling month over month? Which rotation pieces are legit and which are not?

Just when seemingly the entire baseball world had written off the Kansas City Royals this season, they somehow have found a way to make this season even more an emotional roller coaster and start giving fans something they haven't had in months...hope. Yes, it's the end of August and the there's at least some reason to have hope in the Kansas City Royals amid their current eight game winning streak.

Another season is almost in the books, and Bobby Witt Jr. has posted yet another stellar campaign. Not exactly breaking news, but it doesn't make his performance any less impressive. Despite playing on a team still actively competing for the worst record in baseball, Witt Jr. is among the league leaders in fWAR, which will surely earn him some serious consideration when it comes to the AL MVP race.
