The Kansas City Royals have finally been given a reason to celebrate amid their brutal losing skid as they will be sending a pair of names to Philadelphia for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. Bobby Witt Jr. finally got his rightful nod to start for the American League at shortstop, while Michael Wacha was named to his second career All-Star Game as a member of the AL pitching staff. That, however, was it for Royals representation at the Midsummer Classic this year.

One of these positives was the closing efforts from Scott Barlow. Through 74.1 innings in 2021, he converted 16 saves while posting a 2.42 ERA.

The 2026 MLB Draft is closer than fans might think, but trust that the Kansas City Royals and 29 other teams have done their homework on this class. The Royals have a tough position at sixth overall in July, looking to be the bridge from the draft's top tier talent to the B-tier options according to evaluators.

Boy, if Kansas City Royals prospect hounds did not already have a polarizing view on prospect Blake Mitchell, MLB Pipeline's Top 100 update will not help things. The MLB Pipeline team put together a pre-draft update for their top 100 prospects in the game, a ranking that has not been kind to the Royals since the prospect days of shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. This update was especially unkind to Mitchell, who was the only top-50 ranked prospect to fall out of the rankings altogether.

A month ago, the Kansas City Royals made the lineup shuffle that fans had hoped for, a change that would hopefully spark new life into the lineup. That has been just the case, as the Royals have been one of the league's most prolific run-scoring teams in June, despite their overall woeful win-loss record. Plenty of role players have found a sweet swing this past month, but none have been louder than outfielder Jac Caglianone.

The Kansas City Royals outfield is in a perplexing situation more than midway through the 2026 MLB season. The unit's gains at the plate have largely gone overshadowed by the overall team losses and struggles, while the group does not live up to the high fielding standard Kansas City has set for itself in recent seasons. Everyday centerfielder Kyle Isbel is the only regular with a positive Outs Above Average, and he has not been in the field for nearly a month.
