Children ages 8 to 18 are invited to audition for “The Lantern,” a holiday play written by Nathan Pralle and produced by the Franklin County Arts Council. Auditions will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church basement. Participants can come and go during the audition period. The Clarksville City Council will consider several items Monday, including a nuisance abatement at 503 S. Adams and updates on storm recovery and city construction. The council will hold a hearing on the property before considering action to proceed with the nuisance abatement. Also on the agenda is a presentation from Butler-Grundy Development Alliance Executive Director Jeff Kolb on Honky Tonk rebate options and discussion of a road concern at St. Paul and Mill streets.

The Hampton City Council will review a proposed data center policy during its workshop Monday. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the Comprehensive Plan amendment move forward following its meeting Tuesday. The commission approved the proposal with a change to Section 2C addressing cooling systems that use coolant instead of water. NIACOG Senior Planner John Robbins presented a revised draft that incorporates input from Franklin Rural Electric Cooperative.

The Dike-New Hartford football team picked up what so far is its signature victory of the season, taking down #3 (2A) Roland-Story 27-19 Friday, as aired on 99 The Wave and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel. DNH struggled to get going on offense in the first half, and had some crucial turnovers that gave the Norsemen a chance to open the game up. Two first half interceptions helped set up Roland-Story for scoring chances, where they connected on several deep passes to beat the DNH defense.

The game was played at Historic Franklin Field in Marshalltown because the West Marshall field wasn’t playable due to all the rain we had. West Marshall would make quick work of Panorama rushing for 334 yards and gaining 434 yards of total offense. West Marshall ran the ball with several different backs tonight. The scoring started on a Joe Kielman 7-yard touchdown run. West Marshall would then get a 28-yard touchdown run from Drake Whitaker on a counter run to the right making the score 14 to 0.

A mistake filled game from both teams led to a thrilling OT finish as Grundy Center saves their district championship hopes. This game with start off fast with back to back turnovers from both teams. South Hardin would fumble on their opening drive, and Grundy Center would give it right back as South Hardin would gain the interception. The Tigers would punch it in with a Kam Adams filled drive as he gets into the end zone for a 7-0 Tiger lead.

The #10 (A) West Fork football team improved to 6-0 with a 32-6 win over Belmond-Klemme on Friday night. The game was a tale of two halves, with both teams struggling to find an offensive rhythm early. Much of the first quarter was played deep in Belmond-Klemme territory. West Fork had an early scoring opportunity after a muffed punt at the Broncos’ 23-yard line, but Belmond-Klemme recovered a Warhawk fumble at their own 2-yard line.

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs improved to 3-0 in district play Friday night with a 23-20 homecoming win over Denver. The Bulldogs opened the scoring, driving 64 yards on their first possession before Luke Showalter scored his 12th touchdown of the season. The Cyclones responded with an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to tie the game at 7. Denver took the lead later in the first quarter on a touchdown run by Jeb Ebaugh to make it 14-7.

A 48-year-old Rockford man has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for receiving child pornography. Anthony Paul Harden was sentenced to 90 months in prison after pleading guilty February 23 to receipt of child pornography. Federal court records show law enforcement officers searched Harden’s home in Rockford in August 2025 and seized four electronic devices containing child sexual abuse material.
