Corbin was born on February 3rd, 2005 in Oregon City, Oregon.

There was a rear-end crash yesterday afternoon on 30th Avenue right next to The Diamond Showcase. At around 1:50 p.m., a white truck had stopped for a red light at the intersection with Ocean Beach Highway while traveling southbound when a passenger vehicle failed to stop and struck it. First responders arrived a few minutes later and found the occupants out of their vehicles. Nobody was injured; however, the roadway was blocked for a short time.

The Rotary Club of Longview welcomed its new club president during a dinner last evening. The gathering at the Lower Columbia Rose Center for the Arts included the introduction of President Bill Ofstun, with members wishing him a fantastic year ahead. The event also served to thank outgoing President Amy Norquest. The Rotary Club said that, over the past year, she demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and service.

The Longview School District is spending major money keeping four employees on paid leave as the investigation continues into how they handled allegations of sexual abuse involving students in the Mark Morris varsity basketball locker room. Investigative journalist Andre Stepankowsky of Lower Columbia Currents says that, through a public records request, he was able to obtain the names of the employees who have been on paid leave since late May.

Some local firefighters have been busy working in other areas of the state fighting wildfires. Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue posted yesterday that the Cowlitz County Strike Team, made up of personnel from departments in Woodland, Kelso, Kalama, Ariel, Wahkiakum, and Amboy, is currently fighting the Lyle Hill Fire. Mid-morning on Sunday, they had been returning from the Peterson Road Fire in east Klickitat County when they got the call to help in west Klickitat County.

Carol Jane Lee: April 11, 1936 – June 6 2026 LONGVIEW- Carol Jane Lee (née Purrier) passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in Longview, Washington. She was born on April 11, 1936, in Vancouver, Washington, and throughout her 90 years touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Raised in Southwest Washington, Carol was a proud graduate of Kelso High School in 1954.

Rainbow flags and inclusion covered the Longview Civic Circle on Saturday as the community gathered to celebrate Longview’s Pride Festival. The event, hosted by the groups Cascade Forward and Longview Pride, saw hundreds gather to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ movement. There were sponsors, vendors, and dozens of volunteers. The event saw people dress up, dance, and draw with chalk.

Bennie Beth McDonald: October 21, 1944 — June 20, 2026 LONGVIEW- Bennie Beth McDonald (née Kennedy), lovingly known as “Bee,” passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, in Longview, Washington, at the age of 81. Born on October 21, 1944, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Bee’s journey through life was defined by her generous spirit, abiding loyalty, and unwavering devotion to her family. Bee was the treasured daughter of John L. Kennedy and Gladie May Kennedy, both of whom preceded her in death.

If you are going to Vancouver, you should schedule some extra travel time this weekend on southbound I-5 and I-205 as paving work continues. The Washington State Department of Transportation says the roadway from southbound I-5 to southbound I-205 at Exit 7 will close from 10 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Sunday. All southbound lanes of I-205 between the I-5 split and Northeast 134th Street will also be closed during that time.

The plaintiffs in the ongoing Wallin v. Boudreau Open Public Meetings Act lawsuit say they will begin publicly releasing evidence gathered during the case that has not previously been seen by the public.
