Before you know it, football season will be here in Montana. I know, I know, folks have been watching the World Cup and right now the whole country is soccer crazy, but that will pass once the pads and helmets go on. Of course, here in Big Sky Country, football is a way of life. And now that the Cats are the defending National Champions, it's even a bigger deal. In Montana, you're either a Cat or a Griz, and for the last few years, the Cats have been on top.

It’s not surprising to see Montana towns on lists of some of the best places to live. After all, our state has a lot to offer. What is surprising is when you see a top-ten list, and three Montana towns are on it. Travel + Leisure has put together a list of the top ten best U.S. mountain towns to live in, and Montana is well represented. Most of the mountain towns that made Travel + Leisure’s list are located in the West, but not all of them.

I grew up around rattlesnakes, and I can tell you the first time I heard one up close as an adult, I didn't think about what to do. I just jumped sideways and promptly landed on my tush in the dirt. The snake was already gone by the time I stood back up. That is the more typical ending to a rattlesnake story in Montana: an awkward scramble, a racing pulse, and a good anecdote for later.

It was the crime that took the entire nation by storm: four University of Idaho students killed in the middle of the night--in the same home--by knife. The scene was gruesome and the entire community in Moscow continues to heal since these crimes were committed. With a suspect, Bryan Kohberger, now serving a life sentence following a guilty plea, the regular new coverage of this case on television around the world has died down.

When it comes to famous foods in Montana, we have a few. There is the pasty, the huckleberry, the Flat Head Cherry, and a few others. It seems that all across the United States of America there are favorites from the different states or regions that are fan favorites. However, according to one source, a Montana favorite is considered one of the most overrated foods in the country.

If you ask me, Taste of Home Magazine made a massive mistake recently. They released a list of the best old-school drive-ins in the country, and Livingston's very own Mark’s In & Out wasn't even on it. Honestly? It's an absolute abomination. However, if you talk to the regulars who line up there every summer, they probably won't complain too much. National attention usually just means longer lines, and the wait for these burgers is already an annual tradition.

If you’re planning a fly fishing trip to Montana this summer, it’s time to rethink your daily schedule. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) has officially expanded its "hoot-owl" restrictions across several iconic rivers in the southwest and north-central parts of the state. These emergency rules are triggered when water temperatures hit 73°F (or higher) for three consecutive days. When temperatures climb toward 77°F, it becomes highly stressful, and even lethal, for cold water trout.

Living and visiting Montana comes with certain risks. One of the biggest risks involves wildlife. Here in Big Sky Country, we have a few different animals that call Montana home. You've no doubt seen the footage by now of the visitor at Yellowstone National Park that was hurled several feet into the air by a Bison that seemed a little bit upset.

One of Bozeman's favorite summer traditions is gearing up for it's return to Main Street. The 26th Annual "Cruisin' on Main" Car Show will take over downtown Bozeman on Sunday, August 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Main Street will be closed between Willson Ave. and Rouse Ave. during the event. The car show is presented by the Downtown Bozeman Association and Cancer Support Community Montana.
