One of the greatest joys in life is sitting down to a good plate of barbecue. While many of us might happen to have a smoker in our backyard, there is something about getting a chunk of smoked-to-perfection meat from a pitmaster who really knows their way around the grill.

With the popularity of the TV show "Yellowstone," came the increased popularity across Colorado of Buffalo Trace whiskey. Coming to Denver, will be a special event featuring free  Buffalo Trace tasting. According to TheSpiritsBusiness.com, Denver's event will take place at The Church Ranch Event Center, off Wadsworth and 103rd Avenue in Westminster; being in north Denver, it gives those of us in Northern Colorado to attend and get some free whiskey.

Another great invention could join the list of things created in Colorado, such as the milkshake and Crocs. Coming out of Greeley, how about a robotic laundry-folding device? In August of 22026, there was a showcase held in Loveland, according to the Reporter-Herald; the showcase featured companies in their early stages of development. One of the featured businesses was out of Greeley: Origami Motion, which has created a robotic device that folds laundry: The Ori-Smart Dresser.

That blurry-sounding guitar line that leads the Beatles' "Think for Yourself" from 1965's Rubber Soul? That's actually no guitar at all. It's a bass part, played by Paul McCartney and fed through a device called a fuzz box, which creates a kind of grainy, distorted effect. (There's a regular bass part, too.) And as with many Beatles tracks, it broke new ground — "Think for Yourself," written by George Harrison, marked the first time this device was used on purpose with a bass.

Billy Gibbons insists his band’s current lineup is “still ZZ Top,” even if he’s the last remaining member from the trio’s classic era. For more than 50 years, Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard made up ZZ Top – the Little Ol’ Band from Texas that became worldwide superstars thanks to their distinctive brand of blues rock. Hill died in 2021 and was replaced by the band’s longtime guitar tech, Elwood Francis. More recently, Beard died on Aug. 17 at the age of 77.

Rush has added four new cities to their surprise Fifty Something reunion tour. All of the new stops are in October and November. Western Colorado has one more day of this soggy monsoonal mess to deal with before the atmosphere finally starts drying out. Monday brings another round of scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms, with the best coverage expected south of I-70. And after several days of rain, the ground isn't exactly thirsty anymore.

An all-star tribute concert to the Ramones took place on Sunday in Los Angeles, starring a supergroup dubbed the Cretin Family. The Cretin family is: Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), CJ Ramone (original bassist Dee Dee Ramone's replacement and one of just three remaining Ramones members), Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Billy Idol, and Travis Barker (Blink-182). The name of the band comes from a track called "Cretin Family" that appeared on the Ramones' 1995 album, ¡Adios Amigos!.
