Tuesday is bringing some relief to the Magic Valley in the form of cloud cover and cooler temperatures. Highs in the mid-eighties will spread throughout southern Idaho before it gets warmer later in the week and a pressure system brings a better than 50 percent chance of thunderstorms heading into the weekend. Magic Valley weather has been a bit volatile as of late. A combination of thunderstorm activity, intense heat, and light rainfall made for an interesting week of July 6.

The Twin Falls Planning and Zoning Commission is having a special meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the proposal to allow the Cook’s Corner Subdivision to become a reality on the south side of Twin Falls. The Plan is to build a gas station with a convenience store, storage units, and a residential neighborhood. The project will take the current 39-acre field, which is currently growing corn, at the southwest corner of Blue Lakes Blvd and Orchard Drive.

A pancake breakfast fundraiser is planned this week for a southern Idaho firefighter who is preparing to undergo surgery for a rare form of eye cancer. The event is planned for Saturday, July 18, in Kimberly. Rock Creek Fire District Lieutenant Taylor Hunsaker and his family could use some positive vibes right about now.

Civil libertarians aren’t happy about the rise of Flock cameras, which are being used by law enforcement nationwide to track stolen vehicles and assist Amber Alerts. That’s a story I could write 1,250 words about, which is 1,000 more than most people ever read. But the cameras are also revealing other details unrelated to Big Brother fears.

A post from authorities in southeast Idaho’s Bear Lake County shared the details of their hectic weekend on social media, opening with the sentence ‘We hope your weekend was better than ours’. They then went into detail regarding the variety of emergencies they responded to in the area.

The Idaho State Police just posted a news release for a fatal accident that happened on Monday morning north of Arco, Idaho. The crash involved two vehicles, an SUV and a motorhome. Idaho State Police are investigating the crash. This morning, we shared a post covering each accident the Idaho State Police had reported over the weekend. There were 5 accidents at that time with 8 people injured, but no fatalities were reported. The ISP have now shared details of one deadly crash.

Over the weekend and into Monday, the Idaho State Police reported five serious accidents on Idaho highways. The accidents resulted in at least eight people being injured, some of whom are now in critical condition. Miraculously, there were no fatalities reported in any of the accidents. There will be updates to the reports as the investigations progress, and you can read the summaries of the accidents below.

As the Idaho concert season rolls on and fair season gets closer, we have a lot of musical acts coming to the Gem State that we are looking forward to. I went to the Boise Music Fest last month. It was my first concert in over a year, and it did not disappoint. I wasn’t the only one excited. Even with the prospect of dismal weather, there were thousands of people at BMF and, luckily, the weather was perfect.

The Boise Greenbelt is one of our city's greatest treasures. A clean, beautiful walkway and bike path that follows the Boise River and nearly travels across the entire city. For the second time in just about a week now, a major crime on Boise's greenbelt has many asking...what is going on? Reports broke Sunday that late Saturday night, an arrest was made for felony assault and kidnapping, following an attack on an adult female near Ferguson & Park Boulevard on the Boise greenbelt.
