Federal prosecutors have brought criminal charges against a federal immigration agent, accusing him of making false statements regarding a physical encounter that led to the shooting of a Venezuelan national earlier this year. A multi-count indictment handed down by a federal grand jury alleges that deportation officer Christian Castro provided untruthful accounts to law enforcement officials while they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge of his firearm in Minneapolis.

Deliberations in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy reached a tense impasse on Thursday as the jury remained split after six days of discussions at Plymouth Superior Court in Massachusetts. Following two prior notices from the panel indicating a deadlock, a new message from the jury foreperson revealed that a single holdout was preventing a unanimous verdict.

HBO has set a Sept. 18 premiere date for “JAŸ-Z IN 8,” an eight-part documentary series featuring Jay-Z in conversation with longtime friend and producer Rick Rubin. The series will debut at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, with the first two episodes airing back-to-back. Both episodes also will be available to stream on HBO Max beginning at 8 p.m. Two new episodes will follow each Friday, with the final installments arriving Oct. 9.
