Spinning out of the 2025 Superman film directed by James Gunn, HBO has given an eight-episode, straight-to-series order for a new half-hour comedy that they’re calling The People v. Gorilla Grodd. This was the project from DC Comics and Warner Bros. Television that was originally incorrectly referred to as “DC Crime.” Skyler Gisondo reprises his role as Jimmy Olsen and Jimmy Tatro also stars as Gorilla Grodd.

Every story has a beginning… and these two were there at the very beginning. As if there weren’t enough reasons already to attend Creation Entertainment’s 25th Anniversary Salute to Smallville convention which is happening November 7-8, 2026 in Nashville… two new additions have been added to the already-packed lineup… two folks who were there at the very start.

July 29, 2026 will mark the release of the first issue of the new Titan Comics series Black Star which is written by Smallville alum and current Murder In A Small Town star Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) alongside collaborators Peter Mooney and Eric Putzer with art by Joe Bacardo.

The latest film from the “DCU” movie universe, Supergirl, launches in less than a week, with Milly Alcock taking on the role of Kara, cousin of Kal-El. She was first introduced in a very fun scene in last year’s Superman film, and there are many people looking forward to seeing it. However, in some of the more toxic areas of the Internet, people aren’t so enthusiastic.

Superman & Lois writer Adam Mallinger, perhaps best known to his audience as “The Bitter Script Reader” back in the day, has launched a new blog titled Super Fan XL where much of the content will be a look back at his favorite era of Superman comics — the era begun after Crisis on Infinite Earths where writer/artist John Byrne first started the legend over again.

We are now less than a month away from the premiere of My Adventures With Superman Season 3 and Adult Swim has released a new trailer to promote it. The trailer is full of things that should excite Super-fans, including a Cyborg Superman-looking character, a Superboy (voiced by Darren Criss from Glee!), Giganta, and more. The new season premieres Saturday, June 13 at midnight ET/PT as part of Toonami on Adult Swim; episodes then drop on HBO Max the next day.

We are as excited as everyone else around here for Creation Entertainment’s Salute to Smallville convention in November as it will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the show! The CW will be paying homage to one of its classics at a time when their current direction has been going far, far away. The network, which was home to Smallville as well as such fan-favorite shows as Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, The Flash, Arrow and more, has mostly gone the way of acquired TV from other countries, reality TV, and sports since the Nexstar organization took control of The CW and reduced owners CBS (now Paramount) and Warner Bros.

Appearing yesterday on The Jennifer Hudson Show to promote his show Tracker, Justin Hartley was asked by Hudson if he’d ever like to play a superhero again… and his response might be surprising and of course welcomed by the Smallville fandom. “I would love to play a superhero again,” he told her, continuing on to say which superhero he’d like to play.
