KSJS (90.5 MHz) is a college radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day from the campus of San Jose State University in San Jose, California, United States. The brainchild of Professor Clarence Flick, it went on the air on February 11, 1963, with only 85 watts of power. The studio is located in Hugh Gillis Hall, easily accessible to RTVF majors. Originally, its transmitting antenna was installed atop the Walquist Library Building on campus, but broadcasting range was adversely affected due to the nearby Bank of America Building's superior height. Today, however, its transmitter atop Coyote Peak broadcasts 1,500 watts, allowing the station to be heard by the entire Santa Clara Valley and much of the San Francisco Peninsula. OCT 30 – The Spartans’ women’s basketball team took to the court for the very first time this season in an exhibition game versus Oakland’s Lincoln University. The Spartans have 4 returning seniors, including star Jasmine Singleton. In addition, this team hauled in 5 new players through the transfer portal in what is considered to be one of the more stronger classes in the Mountain West. Tonight’s game was no issue for the Spartans, as the score ended 81-37.
INJI @ The Independent SF 09/14
Electronic, Show Reviews, SJSU At The Independent in San Francisco on September 14th INJI on her Tour You Can Scream Along To the crowd filled with older and younger people alike dressed full out in neons. The intimate venue held a bar at the back and a balcony section for VIPs, however, the standing room is where it is at with no bad views and benches by the wall to sit. Beware though if you get to the venue in a rush you may mistake the line for the arcade bar next door for The Independent’s.
SJSU Women And Men's Soccer Recap
Women’s: OCT 13 – The Spartans’ women’s soccer team (0-9-4, 0-3-2 MW) hosted the UNLV Rebels (5-6-2, 3-1-1 MW) in another conference game at the Spartan Soccer Complex. Winless in 13 matches so far, the Spartans looked to grab their first of the season against a strong UNLV team. Throughout the first half, the game was tightly contested. Both teams retained equal possession of the ball and both teams had great scoring chances.
Cole Kakimoto Interview
No other person has had quite an impact on the Bay Area music scene like Cole Kakimoto. For almost a decade he has played an active role in it beyond music. He’s currently the founder and owner of Print Head, a screen printing company in San Jose that’s made countless merchandise for countless hardcore bands. Musically he’s contributed to the Bay Area scene playing in bands from the San Jose area. The most popular was playing guitar for hardcore punk band Gulch which lasted from 2016 to 2022.
Underrated Bay Area Artists: P.E.E.
Hailing from San Francisco, P.E.E. was an indie rock band that existed from 1993-1996. Whenever I listen to this band, I always wonder why they’re never more widely known. They have a questionable yet attention-grabbing name, extremely tight playing, and infectiously catchy songwriting. During their lifetime, they released two albums and an EP: Now! More Charm & More Tender, The Roaring Mechanism, and Miracle Research Center Staff.

I recall a thread I read in late 2022 on (what was formerly) Twitter about someone’s experience at a Sky Ferreira concert. It was a pretty disastrous thread: the show began late, technical issues galore, and several songs were repeated due to dissatisfaction from Sky herself. I knew then that I absolutely neeeeeeeeded to go see Sky Ferreira live to experience these conundrums firsthand, and it’s safe to say my expectations were met! The lead up to the concert was a bit nebulous.
