Highway 26 is closed to through traffic between mileposts 74 and 96 following a fatal vehicle crash currently under investigation. Passenger cars traveling to Central Oregon over Mt. Hood are detouring on Oregon Highway 216 through Simnasho, while trucks must take an alternate route and northbound traffic is being detoured via Highway 97 from Madras.

KWSO News: Local Market Season Ends, Local Water Advisory and Regional Updates
KWSO’s Warm Springs Thursday Market wrapped up its summer season at the Warm Springs Campus Pavilion after averaging 11 vendor booths weekly to provide fresh produce, program outreach, and support for local small businesses and fundraisers. Community members can look forward to the upcoming “Native Market” on November 25th at the Old Warm Springs Elementary Cafeteria, featuring returning vendors for early holiday gift shopping.

A local group is holding weekly rallies to help energize local voters. They are gathering every Saturday morning from 10:30 to noon at the North Y in Madras to encourage community participation in the upcoming general election. These weekly rallies will run through October 31st. Everyone is welcome to join. Crooked River Ranch Community Wide Yard Sales are happening today and tomorrow from 8am to 4pm.

Warm Springs Recreation announced a new youth flag football program at the Pi-Ume-Sha field during Tuesday’s Native Aspirations Community Prevention Meeting. Games take place Thursdays, with youth ages 8 to 10 playing from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and participants ages 10 and up playing from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., featuring two 30-minute halves and a program potluck dinner at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the Life Raft Food Pantry at 401 5th Street in Maupin runs from 11AM to 3PM, and the Dufur Community Food Pantry inside Dufur School is open from 4 to 6. The Thursday Market is today from 10:30am – 2pm at the Campus Pavillion. It is the last Thursday Market of the season and there will be a farm from Redmond set up with fresh produce you can purchase. They take SNAP and WIC vouchers.
