Chicago, IL – Registered Nurses (RNs) employed at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago have voted overwhelmingly – 96% – to join National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC), an Affiliate of National Nurses United (NNU), the Nation’s largest and fastest-growing Nurses Union. “Today is a great day to be a Union Nurse in Chicago,” said Anna Bilanicz, an RN in the Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Victory for Broadway Cleaners
New York. NY – Broadway cleaners represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 32BJ have reached a tentative agreement with theater owners. Members across more than 30 venues voted in late June to authorize a potential work stoppage if the Broadway League refused to settle a fair contract.

Tyson Foods Workers in New Jersey Ratify a New Contract
Vineland NJ – UFCW Local 152 members who work at the Tyson Foods plant in Vineland, N.J., ratified a new contract on June 13. These members are employed in the production, sanitation, and warehouse divisions of the plant. The three-year contract includes guaranteed wage increases annually for the life of the agreement in addition to a ratification bonus. The second shift’s differential rate was also increased.

TWU Local 100 Adds Voice to Fight for Transportation Funds from Feds
TWU Local 100 joined AFSCME, LIUNA, AFT and other unions to file a brief in federal appellate court on July 13th in support of New York State in its case against the United States Department of Transportation. Announced in April, $73.5 million in federal transportation funds has been withheld from New York by the federal government over what it claims are New York State’s compliance issues in issuing CDLs. “These decisions were arbitrary and capricious,” the court papers state.
AFGE Files Lawsuit Challenging Unlawful Retaliation Against Bureau of Prisons Local Union Leader
Washington, DC – The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) on behalf of David Demas, president of AFGE Local 3003, challenging BOP’s unlawful retaliation against Demas for his protected speech as a union leader.
