PHOTOS COURTESY PBS SOCAL Families got a first look at a new free educational app designed to make early math learning fun during a special launch event hosted by PBS SoCal at its Burbank studio June 13.

LA’s BEST is now enrolling students for its free summer programs across Los Angeles. Since 1988, LA’s BEST has provided safe, joyful and high-quality expanded learning opportunities that support the academic, social and emotional growth of elementary school students. Summer programming runs June 15–July 24 and includes arts, STEM, sports, recreation, academic enrichment and hands-on learning experiences.

Parents work on setting boundaries for children, helping them understand why they shouldn’t grab another kid’s toy at daycare or hit their sister when they’re angry. But how do you respond as an adult child when your parent is the one who has poor boundaries, constantly interfering with your parenting or belittling you or your children? Some people are choosing estrangement to cope with unresolved issues like these. It’s hard enough to deal with difficult parents on your own.
