Two small-ish firefighting airplanes made a low buzz over Cheyenne, Wyoming, Wednesday afternoon and landed for refueling. They are helping to fight the Moonshine fire near Wheatland, Wyoming. A Facebook page has been started to update folks on the fire. Find it at this link. Moonshine Fire began 2 miles NE of Government Peak Rd at Tunnel Rd, Wheatland, Platte & Albany Counties, WY. The latest reports as of Wednesday afternoon show that it has grown to 1300 acres.

Chances for a few showers and thunderstorms will return by this weekend, although no widespread precipitation is expected. A sunny, dry and warm day is expected across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska on Thursday.

Suddenly, folks in Wheatland, Wyoming, looked out and saw smoke. It has been named the Moonshine Fire. Moonshine Fire: 500 acres, 0% containment, 2 miles NE of Government Peak Rd at Tunnel Rd, Wheatland, Platte & Albany Counties, WY. The Moonshine Fire is currently burning in Albany County, west of Wheatland and within the general area of the Sybille Fire Zone. The fire was reported Monday evening and has grown rapidly under windy, dry conditions.

A new national survey by a Michigan law firm ranks Wyoming as the third most dangerous state for drivers. The numbers are from 2024. The study was conducted by  Ravid & Associates. Wyoming's neighbor to the north, Montana, was rated the most dangerous state, followed by South Carolina. Minnesota was rated as the safest state in the survey. The single biggest factor that caused Wyoming to be rated the most dangerous state was alcohol.

New research shows nitrogen deposition from the burning of hydrocarbons has helped to expand plant growth and the greening of large parts of the planet. So It's not just CO2 from Wyoming power plants that is making the planet greener. It's nitrogen. A 2026 planet-wide study was just published in Ecography that examines Earth's increased vegetative greening across major ecosystems. The study found that nitrogen deposition was greater even than changes in climate and land use.

Having been in the radio and connected to the music industry for about 30 years, I relate many life issues to songs, especially their lyrics. When you hear a song and it hits you in the middle of the feels, you wonder how the songwriter knew exactly what you're feeling at that particular moment.
