A little update from me
I wanted to send a little update about why there have been no posts over the last week. The long and short of it is that I’m overwhelmed, burnt out and exhausted. Last week I sat at my computer and couldn’t even work out how to send a simple email (sounds ridiculous but IYKYN). My body is letting me know that it’s Not OK. This year has got of…
What Do You Do When Your Kid Comes Home Talking about 'Good' & 'Bad' Foods?
Some of you may have seen my Instagram stories from last week, but in case you missed it, here’s what happened. While A and I were having dinner one night last week, they told me that cucumber was ‘good’ because it makes you strong. He also told me that carrots go *IN* your eyes. And that crisps were ‘bad’ and you shouldn’t eat too many.

Hey team - welcome to ‘Dear Laura’ - a monthly column where I fashion myself as an agony aunt and answer the questions that readers submit. If you’d like to submit a question for me to answer next month - then you can leave it as a comment below or submit it here.
CIHAS ROLL CALL
Something I hear from a lot of you is that you want to chat in the comments, but you’re scared. So you just lurk like a creeper. Reading other people’s comments. But not chiming in. Even though you want to. I figured we needed to do something about that, so here is a very low stakes prompt to get you talking, regardless if you’re a commenting newbie, or …

Just a quick note that I will be using the word ‘fat’ to describe body size instead of the medicalised and pathologising terms ‘ob*se’ or ‘overweight’, unless referring to research. Please also take care when clicking links as much of the research here frames body size as pathology and is inherently stigmatising.
32: B*tch, You Have Got to Eat Something
One of the things that came out of the 2023 Reader Survey was that you wanted a Q+A/AMA of the pod. So we’re giving it a shot. Now our monthly pod schedule will consist of 1-2 guest episodes a month, with 1 Q+A with myself and Lucy. Guest episodes will be free for everyone to listen to, with the Q+A episodes being a perk for paid subscribers.
What's Your Snack?
Last week’s thread was brilliant, but also kind of a bummer. So this week, I figured we’d do something fun. At the end of every podcast episode, I ask guests ‘what are you snacking on right now?’. The idea is to share a recommendation for listeners which could be an actual snack. Or it could be a movie, book, TV show, podcast, or really anything! I’m sharing some of my current snacks this week, and would love to get yours in the comments, because who doesn’t love a great snack recc?
