Lady Lynx play seven, watch No. 1 Nebraska over two days in Vegas
The Lincoln County High School girls volleyball team played three pool play matches on Friday, Aug. 28 and four more tournament matches on Saturday before unwinding at the UNLV/Nebraska volleyball games in Las Vegas. The tournament featured skilled, out-of-state teams with a lot of depth. Some teams had rosters twice the size of Lincoln County’s. One of those teams, the Beckman (Cali.) Patriots, nearly dropped the first set to LCHS on Friday, but ultimately prevailed 26-24.

Live music, historic films add to Pioche Labor Day weekend
Pioche’s Labor Day celebration will offer more than competitions, parades and longtime traditions this weekend, with live music and a look back at Nevada’s movie history adding to the entertainment Sept. 4-5. The weekend’s live entertainment begins Friday night at the Overland Hotel & Saloon, where Fast Eddie will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The band will return Saturday night for a second performance during the Labor Day festivities. Both shows are for those 21 and older.

During a traffic stop in Pioche, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office K9 Bowie conducted an open-air sniff and gave a positive indication.
