Lincoln County Fair activities begin taking shape With the 2026 Lincoln County Fair and Rodeo just weeks away, organizers are encouraging residents to begin preparing exhibits and registering for events before upcoming deadlines. The fair will be held Aug. 5-8 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Panaca, with opportunities for residents of all ages to participate in exhibits, competitions and rodeo events. After years of planning and searching for the right location, the Lincoln County Library System will celebrate the grand opening of its newest branch in Panaca on Wednesday, July 22. The new branch will be located in Room 107 of the Panaca Town Center. A grand opening celebration will begin at 11 a.m., with the branch remaining open until 4 p.m. that day. Visitors should use the back entrance near the LDS church lawn to access the library.

Lincoln County’s major wildfires transition into recovery After weeks of firefighting efforts that scorched more than 47,000 acres across Lincoln County, the four major wildfires that dominated the region last month have transitioned out of active suppression, marking a significant milestone in the county’s 2026 fire season.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to take part in Panaca Pioneer Day and enjoy one of Panaca’s longest-standing community traditions. A full slate of community events is planned as Panaca prepares to celebrate the event later this month. Along with the annual parade and community activities, this year’s celebration will offer opportunities for residents to get involved before the festivities begin and celebrate the town’s pioneer heritage.

Caliente Community and Visitor Center welcomes families The Caliente Community and Visitor Center is settling into its first month of operation, offering visitors tourism information while also creating new opportunities for local families through the library and weekly children’s programs.

Sheriff’s Office reports multiple arrests following drug investigations The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced that deputies have executed four drug-related search warrants over the past several weeks as part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal drug activity throughout the county. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigations resulted in the arrests of three individuals.

Caliente Family Dollar closes until further notice as HVAC repairs continue The Caliente Family Dollar has closed until further notice as work continues to repair the store’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The store initially closed in early June after its HVAC system failed.

Lincoln County first responders respond to 120 calls during busy week LINCOLN COUNTY — Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and the Pahranagat Valley Volunteer Fire District responded to a variety of incidents during the week of July 6-13, including domestic disturbances, assaults, drug investigations, medical emergencies and a vehicle fire. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office handled 115 calls for service during the reporting period.
