Our goal is to increase the transparency of municipal government, to give you the information you need to have input into the decision-making process and to promote pride in our community, including our schools, neighborhoods, housing stock, municipal services, recreation programs and unique professional services and businesses. Because regional coverage of suburban municipalities is dwindling, a trusted source of local information such as Mt. Lebanon Magazine is becoming ever more important. Tucked into a wooded hollow off Bower Hill Road, the pool welcomes new South Hills residents every year while generations of families return decade after decade.

Editors’ pick: Farmers Markets Weekly The Mt. Lebanon Uptown Market is held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through October 24 in the Uptown Business District on Washington Road. It features weekly vendors, and a rotating selection of vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses and more. The Mt. Lebanon Lions Farmers Market is held Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m., rain or shine, through the end of October at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, 975 Washington Road.

Making cat shows out of typos
Do you ever have a great idea while waiting for your microwave lunch? Well, apparently, I do. When the Mt. Lebanon Police Department’s Classic Car Show was postponed on July 4 (and rescheduled for September 13!), a LeboALERT typo garnered a big reaction from the community. Suddenly, the car show was a “cat” show. Lebo residents posted to various Facebook pages expressing their disappointment that we don’t have an actual cat show. This is where my microwave meal comes in, sort of.

They found that in Mt. Lebanon — and eventually, they found a way to become part of the community themselves.
