Joshua Martinez, the 28-year-old man charged with the murder of Sutter Creek teen Victoria Marquina, was denied bail by a San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge on Monday, September 21.

A Maine man remains in custody at Amador County Jail after being charged with attempted murder following an altercation at the Kirkwood Mountain Resort employee housing area earlier this month. According to a report by the Amador County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), on Friday, September 4, around 6:45 p.m., ACSO deputies responded to the report of a possible stabbing at the Kirkwood Mountain Resort employee housing area.

Sam Adina, a highly respected area bonsai expert, will demonstrate styling a lodgepole pine tree at the Mother Lode Bonsai Club’s Saturday, October 3 meeting. His free public presentation will follow the club’s monthly meeting at 10 a.m. at the San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (off Mountain Ranch Road) in San Andreas. Adina, who is also the sensei (teacher) for the Modesto Bonsai Club, has been raising and teaching bonsai design for over 25 years.
