Exciting news from the LESI 2025 Annual Conference in Singapore! A new Board of Directors has been installed, ushering in a fresh leadership team for the upcoming year. Jean-Christophe Troussel steps into the role of president, with Ningling Wang as the president-elect. Following her energetic and productive year (with lots of Cha Cha Cha!), Sonja London continues now to as the immediate past president.

Collaboration with WIPO’s Inventor Assistance Program (IAP) The IAP, at the World Intellectual Property Organization, connects individual inventors and small businesses with limited resources to professionals who help them navigate the patent system at no cost. LES volunteers works together with WIPO to help inventors capitalize on their patents’ commercial potential and provide and take steps towards effectively monetizing their patents.

The Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) program recognizes professionals who have demonstrated their experience and proficiency in the licensing and commercialization of intellectual property. The designation is built on internationally applicable standards of professional practice, and there are approximately 800 individuals who currently hold the CLP credential in 30 countries worldwide.

A financial modelling course, aimed at providing licensing professionals with the skills theyneed in order to understand, build and interpret financial models and to evaluate financialviability of licensing opportunities.

Our young people will impact and be the creators of our tomorrow. We believe understanding IP will be integral in their education. This special day is organized as a tribute in memory of the late Patrick Terroir who was a long term, dedicated LES member, a former president of LES France and a mentor to many. Patrick championed this cause and had wanted very much to organize this celebration himself for the global LESI family.

The EU-funded project IMPAC3T-IP is working to revolutionise intellectual property (IP) licensing by identifying gaps in current licensing tools and exploring emerging technologies. To accomplish this mission, they need the expertise of professionals directly involved in research commercialisation, technology transfer and those who are navigating the challenges and opportunities of IP licensing every day.

The HTB Summer Camp 2024, an on-site meeting held in Munich, successfully reunited the HTB Committee members, supporters, and collaboration partners. This event marked the second in-person meeting of its kind organized by the HTB Committee. The summer camp took place on 16-17 August 2024 and was hosted by Bardehle Pagenberg.

On Thursday, October 3, 2024, a high level LESI delegation met with officials and staff at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in key offices. The group made up of LESI board members and committee leaders recieved updates from WIPO on current and upcoming activities and discussed how WIPO and LESI could work together to execute on shared goals.

First quarter went so fast! As always the society year starts with appointments of the committees and meetings with the committee leadership and the LES society presidents. In these kick-off meetings the newly adopted LESI Vision and Mission as well as the priorities for this society year were presented and discussed.
