Building on the success of recent years, this year's festival will once again celebrate Ireland's Halloween heritage through a mix of culture, folklore, food, music, storytelling and family-friendly entertainment. The 2026 festival marks the second year of Limerick's participation in Fáilte Ireland's Home of Halloween Pilot Destination Development Scheme, through which Limerick has secured funding of up to €100,000 annually over three years.

The funding package includes a €9 million allocation for the Nicholas Street Public Realm Scheme, supporting the ongoing regeneration of King's Island and Limerick's Medieval Quarter. Significant funding has also been awarded for the Bank Place & Granary Courtyard Public Realm and Central Plaza Common Area project - €7.5 million, and the Southside Connectivity Project - €6 million, creating a combined investment of €22.5 million in three key areas of the city.

Following extensive adjudication by judges Michael Griffin and Pat Shearin, the five communities selected as wildcard entrants are: Adare, Askeaton, Bruff, Herbertstown and Kilteely. The five wildcard communities will join Castleconnell, Croom, Kilmallock, Newcastle West and Patrickswell  who secured their places through a public vote hosted by Live 95.

The report estimates that investment through the NTA's Active Travel Programme is expected to generate almost €4 in benefits for every €1 invested. It also estimates that the programme could generate more than €7.7 billion in benefits nationally over a 30-year period. The report also estimates annual commuter savings of €620 for pedestrians and €3,480 for cyclists when compared with travelling by car.

This exhibition invites the audience to discover the work being created by the artists based in spacecraft and to learn more about their individual practice and approaches to making. The exhibition highlights emerging artists and reflects the range of contemporary visual art being produced in Limerick.

With more than 25 events taking place, the Council is urging people to explore the full programme and book ahead where required, as a number of events have limited capacity and some are already sold out or fully booked.

Throughout Orientation and Freshers' Week, the Limerick Student City team will be engaging directly with students while promoting the Limerick Student City Pocket Map and Guide, available both online and in print.

The Local Authority has been shortlisted in eight categories at the 2026 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards, highlighting the breadth and impact of projects being delivered across the city and county. The awards, regarded as one of the most prestigious benchmarks of excellence in local government, recognise outstanding achievement and innovation by local authorities nationwide. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 26 November 2026.
