The release of the 1926 Census has allowed historians and curious citizens alike to delve into a hidden past. According to John Gibney, a Royal Irish Academy Historian who worked on the project, the release challenges the image of the early Free State as a dreary backwater, sealed from the rest of the world and squarely monocultural. Thanks to the ostensible 100-year rule, the census legally had to be made public. This time, however, the digitised platform is entirely free.

Eleven years after initial government approval, 22 new dwellings in Moyross have yet to be built. In February 2015, the Department of Housing approved The Cosgrave Park Phase 2 project. Gardaí have seized drugs worth close to €650,000 following a search operation in Annacotty, County Limerick. The raid took place on Wednesday, April 29, and was carried out by officers from the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit as part of the ongoing national initiative Operation Tara, which focuses on tackling drug trafficking and organized crime across the country. During the search of a house in the area, Gardaí uncovered a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs.

Munster’s appointment of Kiwi attack coach Roger Randle looks set to be cancelled. The Irish Independent reported the news earlier today and has been leading the investigation on this story since the announcement of Randle’s hiring two weeks ago. The hiring, which saw the 51-year-old be given a two-year deal that was to begin this summer, caused controversy immediately within Munster and their supporters.

College can be a triggering period for individuals who struggle with addiction. University of Limerick is working to develop a system to help students dealing with these issues. Eva Devaney is the Substances and Gambling Support Officer in UL, and is trained in assisting those who wish to recover from addiction. “My role is very broad. It incorporates having a face-to-face service available to students and staff.

University of Limerick students were well represented at the 2026 Annual Student Media Awards, taking home 3 awards. Limerick Voice’s Sports Editor Andrew Moynihan won ‘Sports Writer of the Year’, receiving recognition for a number of articles posted on Limerick Voice’s website and in the physical publication.

Exam season is fast approaching for students at UL, with exams beginning on Tuesday, May 5 and concluding on Monday, May 18. Ahead of crunch time, Limerick Voice asked students how they’re feeling ahead of their end of year assessments. “It’s kind of hard to prepare at the minute because I still have a load of assignments to do, so it’s a bit hard to balance the study. It’s getting to the point where everyone is locked in the library, busy away,” third-year engineering student John Hogan said.
