NEW CITY MURALS - 99.9 Live FM
An explosion of colour is celebrating tropical North Queensland’s idyllic lifestyle with four new murals being completed at Townsville’s Flinders Lane. Townsville-based artists Alicia Allen, Hannah Aiello, Georgie Dunn and Katherine Cornwall have been commissioned by Townsville City Council in partnership with Flinders Lane tenant Locke Holdings NQ PTY LTD. Ms Cornwall said Root and Rock Landscape was her first mural as part of Council’s Street Art program.
NEW NEIGHBOURLY ACCOLADE
Townsville City Council is celebrating its new status as a Very Neighbourly Organisation ahead of Neighbour Day this Sunday. Relationships Australia, as the home of the Neighbours Every Day campaign, has recognised Council for its work in increasing respectful relationships across the Townsville community. Mayor Nick Dametto said it was gratifying to see Relationships Australia recognise Council’s commitment to growing Townsville as a city for everyone.

Stallholders and exhibitors are being invited to register now for one of Townsville’s most popular sustainability events, with Eco Fiesta set to return to Anderson Gardens on Sunday, June 7. FORMER PRISONER EMBRACING FAITH
Former prisoner embracing faith thanks to chaplains Bradley only cries twice a year: on his brother’s birthday, and on the anniversary of his death. Bradley suffered considerable abuse growing up within the foster care system. He learned very quickly not to show emotion, and his heart grew cold. It was the death of his brother when he was 23 years old that rocked Bradley to his core and upended his whole world. He’d never lost someone he loved before and grief overwhelmed him.
ONGOING SPORTS ACTION AT THE GREEN
A 500m weather-proof fence has been delivered to the city’s northern suburbs, with Townsville City Council wrapping up works on restoring the perimeter boundary of The Green sports field in Burdell. Functionality is first for the new asset, with the powder white galvanised steel fence replacing the damaged former white picket fence that enclosed the site.
